Day 3: Conflans-Sainte-Honorine

Fri. 6 Nov 2026

The morning starts with a great French breakfast of pastries and fruits.

For today's hunting - it is focused solely on English style driven Grey partridges. Once postes are drawn, you'll head out to the first of seven drives. After the 4 morning drives, we'll return to the Chateau for lunch for a midday meal. After lunch, we will go out for the final 3 drives. The day will end with once again a wonderful tableau and Champagne toast before cleaning up for a cocktail hour and dinner.

*The English Grey partridge are different from the partridge you'll find in Spain or Morocco. They are a bit smaller, fly faster, and fly in a covey. They are challenging yet extremely fun to hunt. Steve, the head games keeper, is an export in presenting them well to the line of guns and gives the line ample opportunities to reach the 200 bird bag limit.

The non-shooters will have a day of touring Château d'Auvers-sur-Oise with a private guided tour of the Van Gogh exhibition followed by lunch.

Cocktail hour and dinner to follow.

At a generous bag of 400 birds, we'll have 4 or 5 drives throughout the day. After the first drive, we'll enjoy some beverages and soup by the fire while the beaters head to the next drive. Between drives two and three, we'll head back to the chateau for lunch.

The day will end with a tableau in front of the chateau hosted by the games keeper. We'll enjoy some champagne and toast to the birds, loaders, beaters, and shooters!

Apartments belonging to kings, queens, mistresses and courtiers in this royal residence, a symbol of French absolutism and artistic and cultural influence, reveal everyday life in the Court and key events in the history of France.

After the tour, we will have a private brunch at 12:30PM in  Airelles Chateau de Versailles. The different dishes are carefully served one after another, as part of this incredible feast of yesteryear. Start with a hot drink of your choice, such as Alain Ducasse’s hot chocolate. In between courses, enjoy a refreshing cold seasonal fruit juice. A selection of bread and brioche will be brought out with delicious dips.

We will then transfer to L'Abbaye des Vaux de Cernary where we'll check in and stay for the next two nights.
