Day 1: Nairobi

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi, you will be met and assisted through immigration formalities before being met by your driver and transferred to Macushla House, a drive of about 45 minutes.

Spend the rest of the day relaxing and recovering from your flight before enjoying dinner and your first night in Africa.

Day 2: Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Wilson Airport (30  minutes away) in time for your scheduled flight to Amboseli National Park, flying of about 45 minutes.

On landing at the airstrip, you will be met by your driver/guide and transferred to Elerai Camp. The drive will take about 1.5 hours with game viewing en route. 

Following check in formalities, settle into your tents and then make your way to the main area for lunch.

This afternoon you will head out on an afternoon game drive returning to camp in the early evening with time to freshen up before dinner.

Days 3 - 4: Amboseli National Park

You have two nights at Elerai Camp enjoying everything it has to offer. 

Here you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the African wilderness with day and night game drives, bush walks, delectable bush meals and sundowners, mountain biking adventures, birdwatching, and opportunities to connect with conservation efforts and local communities.

Elerai Camp is situated in its own private wildlife conservancy between Mt. Kilimanjaro and the south eastern sector of the famous Amboseli National Park. The mixed bush of the conservancy includes floodplains filled by seasonal rains and Kilimanjaro melt water, and wooded grassland, dominated by red acacia (Acacia seyal, known as elerai in Maa, the Maasai language).

Wildlife you can expect to see includes lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo, in addition to giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, eland, lesser kudu, and warthog. Bird highlights feature Goliath heron, Hartlaub’s bustard, African jacana, and the magnificent crowned crane.

Night drives are available within the conservancy for safarists eager to see some nocturnal inhabitants, among them serval, civet, genet, aardvark, aardwolf, and bush baby.

Day 5: Laikipia

After breakfast this morning you will be transferred back to the airstrip for your flight to Laikipia, via Nairobi. Flying time of about 2 hours with a stop at Wilson Airport.

On landing at Loisaba airstrip, you will be met and transferred to Laikipia Wilderness Camp, a drive of about 2 hours, arriving in time for lunch.

Following a delicious lunch, head out on an exciting afternoon game drive, returning to camp in the early evening for a chance to unwind before dinner.

Days 6 - 7: Laikipia

You enjoy two nights in Laikipia and have the opportunity to explore this beautiful part of Kenya.

Activities are varied at Laikipia Wilderness and no fixed schedule means every day will be different. Daily day and night game drives take place in open and closed vehicles but the speciality here, is walking. Walks are tailored to personal preference and fitness and can last from thirty minutes to several hours. For the energetic and adventurous rock climbing, river swimming, tubing and rafting can all be arranged as can fishing, bird watching and local village visits.

Laikipia Wilderness is located on the Ol Donyo Lemborro ranch. The terrain and habitat is varied with rolling hills of scrub bush and open grassland interspersed with thickets and riverine woodland along the Ewaso Narok river. Around 250 species of birds have been recorded and the mammal list includes greater kudu, gerenuk, wild dog, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, leopard, lion, Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Thompson and Grants gazelle, eland, Beisa oryx, defassa waterbuck, striped hyaena, spotted hyaena, baboon, vervet monkey, jackal, warthog and many smaller species such as caracal, African wild cat, serval, genet, civet, porcupine, aardvark, aardwolf and rock hyrax. The Laikipia region has one of the fastest growing populations of wild dogs in Africa.

Day 8: Olare Motorogi Conservancy

After breakfast, you will be transferred the the airstrip for your scheduled flight to  the famous Masai Mara, a flight of about 1.5 hours.

On landing, you will be met by your driver/guide and transfer with a game drive en route to Kicheche Bush Camp, arriving in time for lunch. The drive into camp will take about 1 hour.

Following lunch, gear up for an afternoon game drive. As the golden light paints the landscape, return to camp for refreshments and a delicious dinner under the starlit sky.

Days 9 - 10: Olare Motorogi Conservancy

The main activity at Kicheche Bush Camp is game drives by day on the Olare Motorogi Conservancy and to a lesser extent into the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Cultural excursions are available to local Maasai villages and to the nearby Maa Trust. It is also possible to visit the headquarters of the Mara Predator Project. Guided walks are also offered, allowing a different perspective and giving you the chance to stretch your legs after many hours spent in vehicles! 

The Masai Mara ecosystem is one of the best game viewing areas in Africa and is especially good for viewing the big cats. Elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodiles, giraffe, zebra, lion, leopard, cheetah, spotted hyaena, impala, gazelles, eland, waterbuck, topi, jackal and serval are all common and seen regularly. Rhino are found in certain areas, and wild dogs are more transient visitors. The famous wildebeest and zebra migration is usually in residence from mid-July through to mid-October, though the movement of the animals is always somewhat unpredictable. The scenery of the Masai Mara is stunning with open grassland plains intersected by rivers, rocky ridges and pockets of riverine forest. Birdlife is varied and especially good around the riverine woodland areas.

Day 11: End of Itinerary

After a final game activity and a late breakfast, you depart for the Mara North airstrip for the scheduled flight to Nairobi, flying time of about 45 minutes.

Upon landing, you will be met and transferred to the House of Waine where a day room is booked for you to relax and freshen up before your transfer to Jomo Kenyatta Airport.

You will have a vehicle and driver at your disposal should you want to do any last minute shopping or visit the giraffe centre where you are able to feed the Rothschild Giraffes from a platform.

You are transferred to the airport and check-in for your home-bound flight and depart Africa with unforgettable memories of your adventure.
