Arrival Day:
Vancouver to Homfray Lodge (D) Join your included flight from Vancouver airport’s Southern Terminal to Powell River and complimentary shuttle to the Historic Lund Hotel on arrival for a mid-afternoon departure for Desolation Sound via the Sunshine Coast and Malaspina Strait joining your fellow travellers for dinner on board your cruise ship as it heads for Homfray Lodge.
During Your Stay:
Homfray Lodge (B,L,D) From the lodge we cruise to remote Toba Inlet where you will join a Grizzly Bear Viewing Tour, guided by indigenous Klahoose guides. We disembark at Toba Inlet and after a short drive to covered viewing platforms, we spend between 2–3 hours watching the grizzly bears feeding on salmon in their natural habitat. After the tour and lunch, we return to Homfray Lodge where you will have time at leisure to enjoy the lodge amenities. With a maximum of just 12 passengers, each Grizzly Bear Viewing Tour is limited for an intimate experience and minimal impact on the bears. 2 nights includes one tour, 3 & 4 nights includes two tours.
Grizzly Bear Viewing Tours depart Homfray Lodge with a cruise to Toba Inlet, on the edge of the Great Bear Rainforest. Upon arriving at the river, you will receive a warm and traditional welcome from the Klahoose First Nation guides. A short drive will transport you to specifically designed viewing areas where you will spend about 3 hours with the bears in their natural habitat, from raised and covered viewing platforms along the remote wilderness river. The highlight of the tour will be the chance to view the grizzly bears feeding on salmon in the natural habitat. Our grizzly bear tours are limited to 12 guests for an intimate experience and less impact on the bears. After having lunch onboard, return to Homfray Lodge in the afternoon with time to relax on the lodge's expansive dock as the chef prepares your dinner.
Enjoy an early breakfast at the lodge before setting off for the return cruise to Lund and shuttle to Powell River for your included flight to Vancouver airport’s Southern Terminal.
