Day 2: Cape Town

Tue. 25 Jan 2022

1 round of golf, 18 holes, Royal Cape GC, green fees only

Built to high USGA standards and having hosted the South African Open and the SA Amateur Championships multiple times, the Royal Cape Golf Club is a true championship course that tests for amateurs and professionals alike. Emanating a rich history and tradition, South Africa's oldest golf club offers a beautiful setting views of Table Mountain from most holes that will make your visit truly memorable.

The narrow fairways demand extreme accuracy off the tee, wayward shots can be heavily penalized amongst the trees and the greens are well bunkered. There is also plenty of water on the course, especially at the corner of the 3rd, 4th, 5th and also the 14th, 15th and 16th. The most difficult holes are the par-4 3rd and the par-4 14th. The second nine offers quite a challenge for the average golfer: two challenging par 3s and a very magnificent par 4! The locals do not call it their own ‘Amen’ corner for nothing!

There is good practice range near the clubhouse as well as three practice nets.

Full Day Cape Peninsula incl Seal Island, Funicular & Lunch - Private, FD, English Guide

  • Cape Town City Centre

After your collection, travel toward the Cape Peninsula for the commencement of your tour.

  • Cape Point and Peninsula

Enjoy a scenic drive along the Atlantic Seaboard via Sea Point, Clifton, Camps Bay and Hout Bay, a quaint seaside village with magnificent mountain views. Continue onto Chapmans Peak Drive, one of the world's most spectacular coastal drives towards the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point. Watch the dramatic clash of the seas from the view point which can be accessed by a foot or the Flying Dutchman Funicular. A lunch stop at Berthas.

Boulders penguin colony is home to a growing colony of the protected African penguin. Wooden walkways allow visitors to view penguins in their natural habitat. Continue on to Seal Island.  Seal Island is a small land mass located 5.7 kilometres (3.5 miles) off the northern beaches of False Bay. The island is so named because of the great number of Cape fur seals that occupy it.  It is also home to seabirds, and it is likely that non-marine species fly there to breed as well . The island is an outcrop of the Cape granite, and rises no more than about 4 to 6 metres (13 to 20 feet) above the high tide mark. There is no vegetation, soil of any significance, or beach.

  • The tour ends with drop off your hotel.

Day 4: Cape Town

Thu. 27 Jan 2022

1 round of golf, 18 holes, Steenberg GC, green fees only

Rated among the top 3 golf courses to visit in South Africa, Steenberg, nestled in the crook of the Constantiaberg Mountains, lives up to its fame with a charming location amidst vineyards. Designed by the eminent golf course architect Peter Matkovich, Steenberg follows his principle that good golf course architects “listen to the land”.

The greens on the course are especially laudable, but the quality of the fairways or the rest of the course is in fact, equally impressive. Signature holes are the 7th and the 14th, with the longest green in Africa on the latter. Large aprons around the greens are another special feature and the vineyards also provide a unique visual aspect, as well as a charming added hazard.

Recently voted “Top foreign golf resort” by Conde Nast Traveller readers, Steenberg is one of the most prestigious golf courses in South Africa.

1 round of golf, 18 holes, Arabella GC, green fees only

Ranked as the 4th best course in South Africa and #1 in Western Cape, the Arabella parklands course hugs the Bot River lagoon with spectacular views across the Kogelberg mountain range. Designed by the acclaimed Peter Matkovich, this spectacular layout opened in 1999. Home to the annual Nelson Mandela Invitational Tournament since 2003, a Gary Player charity initiative, it has hosted Jack Nicklaus, Samuel L Jackson, Ronan Keating and several other celebrities. Arabella’s well-balanced, flowing layout perfectly complements its tricky sand traps, clever water hazards, kikuyu fairways and dominant bent greens.

The signature 8th hole is one of the most beautiful par-5’s ever, while the snaking Par-4 18th on the estuary’s shoreline was recently voted as the best finishing hole in South Africa. And then there's the 'Turn'- consisting of holes 3, 4 and 5 which like Augusta's Amen Corner, are considered the most challenging on the course. The best part- a par gross score on the Turn wins a complimentary round of golf!

Day 7: Hermanus

Sun. 30 Jan 2022

1 round of golf, 18 holes, Hermanus GC, green fees only

The Hermanus Golf Club has held a reputation for excellent year round standards despite experiencing heavy traffic - thanks to the dedicated and professional management. With the recent refurbishments giving the course a unique makeover, the Hermanus Golf Club today presents an incredible challenge and experience.

In 2006, the classic country course underwent a major overhaul with the introduction of nine new holes. The course itself was considerably lengthened and the charming and gentle layout of the past has today been replaced with a modern classical design. The gorgeous sea views, mountainous surroundings, charming hospitality and former tradition remain. Yet, this golfing venue has truly reached a new zenith under South Africa's foremost golf course architect. Peter Matkovich infused his special brand of flair and experience to maximise the potential on this scenic and gentle landscape.

Day 10: Stellenbosch

Wed. 2 Feb 2022

1 round of golf, 18 holes, Devonvale GC, green fees only

Originally designed by Ken Elkin, the Devonvale golf course  is set in a natural and undulating valley blessed with adjoining vineyards and a considerable variety of mature trees. Needless to say, being set in the heart of the famous winelands of Stellenbosch, the estate abounds in scenic views and natural beauty.

The magnificent 18-hole Championship layout offers a regular challenge to both local and international golfers alike. Holes don't come much tighter than the uphill par-five 14th with its green hidden among the trees around the corner of a dogleg. The course has regularly seen innumerable improvements: holes have been lengthened, tees have been manicured and the fairways have been given a stunning shape. However, the original Ken Elkin design of curving, sweeping fairways winding their way up and down the tree-lined land surrounded by mountains and vines has stood the test of time and contributes to a memorable golfing experience.

Day 11: Stellenbosch

Thu. 3 Feb 2022

1 round of golf, 18 holes, De Zalze GC, green fees only

Having hosted both the Eisenhower Trophy and the Espirito Santo Trophy in October 2006, the De Zalze Golf Club, set on the 300-hectare greater Kliene Zalze Estate, is laid out in the midst of working vineyards and orchards backed by the spectacular Stellenbosch Mountain range. Located in the heart of the famous winelands of Stellenbosch, findly known as 'Little Europe', the superb holes are set on rolling and undulating terrain, meandering between grape on the vine, fruit on the tree and an array of great water features.

Renowned golf course architect, Peter Matkovich, has lent his name to the course, making most of the stunning setting while placing a premium on accuracy. The course has excellent Kikuyu fairways and large Bent Grass greens, all with the Matkovich trademark of finely manicured aprons. De Zalze offers a fine mix of parkland holes, its main defences being the water features on several of the holes. The oak-lined Blaauwklippen River winds its way through the golf estate and comes into play at various intervals.

Day 12: End of Itinerary

Fri. 4 Feb 2022

After breakfast be ready for a half-day wine tasting including lunch

  • Stellenbosch

Explore the second oldest town in South Africa and walk down the canal-lined avenues, in the shade of giant oak trees and beautifully preserved historic buildings, cafes, boutiques and art galleries. Simon van der Stel - the Governor of the Cape Colony at the time - established the town in 1679 and the remaining Cape Dutch architecture gives a sense of this Dutch colonial history. However, ten years later in 1690, French Huguenot refugees settled in the area and planted grapes in the fertile valleys around Stellenbosch giving way to the birth of the South African Wine Industry. Enjoy a wine tasting before continuing on the tour.

  • Franschoek

Travel over the Helshoogte Pass to the town of Franschoek, which was also subsequently settled by the French Huguenots in the 17th century. Billed as the gourmet capital of South Africa, this charming town, in the most picturesque valley, retains a strong French Huguenot style represented in the longstanding architecture and lifestyle. Enjoy a wine tasting before taking the time to enjoy the fabled culinary skills of the Franschoek chefs at one of the many award-winning restaurants, lunch valued at R550pp.

After the short tour you will be transferred to the Capetown airport.

End of tour.
