Day 1: Makalali Private Game Reserve

Let us take you on a whistle-stop tour to show you some of South Africa’s most iconic animals!

This morning you will be collected from your Johannesburg hotel by your guide. Leaving the bustling city behind us we head east, via Dullstroom, to Mother Nature’s playground, the beautiful and inspiring, Limpopo Province.

Stop for lunch (own account) en route and arrive at Makalali Private Game Reserve. Let the Bushveld captivate you, as we take you on a guided open vehicle game drive to search out the “Big Five” and other distinctive species like the giraffe, zebra and the endangered cheetah. Come back to your lodge and enjoy the peaceful, luxurious setting, with pre-dinner drinks (own account) before a great local delicacy dinner.

Day 2: Hazyview

An early start sees you catching the bushveld as it comes alive while on a guided open vehicle game drive. Many of the big predators creep about during the night hours, where their excellent night vision gives them the advantage. We leave early to try catch some of the big cats may still about after their night of hunting. Enjoy coffee and rusks before a well-deserved breakfast back at the lodge.

After breakfast, head to one of Mpumalanga’s most magnificent topographical attractions, the Blyde River Canyon and the Three Rondavels. The Blyde River Canyon is the largest green canyon in the world. The Panorama Route affords guests memorable views of the more significant sites in this area including God’s Window and the Bourke’s Luck Potholes. Lunch (own account) is enjoyed along this scenic route as we make our way towards Hazyview

Day 3: Lobamba

After an early breakfast we leave the splendorous town of Hazyview and drive onto Mpumalanga’s flagship attraction, the Kruger National Park.

The Kruger National Park forms part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park. This peace park links the Kruger with Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe, and with the Limpopo National Park in Mozambique and, to give you an idea of scale, is roughly the same size as the Netherlands.

A closed vehicle game drive will give you the opportunity to search high and low for the “Big Five” and other endangered and indigenous animals and plants. Amongst the park’s diverse offerings are: 147 mammals, 507 birds, 114 reptiles and a whopping 1 982 plants species with several historical and ancient archaeological sites. Enjoy lunch (own account) en route to the Kingdom of Eswatini. Guests enter at the Jeppes Reef border. Arrive at the hotel later in the afternoon and enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Day 4: St Lucia

After an early breakfast we start our travel through to St Lucia via the Kingdom of Eswatini formally known as Swaziland. (Visa own account).

Eswatini, one of only two kingdoms in Southern Africa, is also the smallest country in Africa. This landlocked kingdom is named after a 19th century king and is today still deeply involved with ancient traditions. After an early breakfast, guests stop to visit the Swazi Candle Factory and Crafts Market

Exit Swaziland at the Lavumisa Border post and enter the sub-tropical Elephant Coast, the Zulu Kingdom of KwaZulu-Natal. An area full of imposing mountains, the lapping Indian Ocean and some incredibly varied flora and fauna. In the late afternoon you will arrive at your overnight accommodation.

You will have an opportunity to freshen up before relaxing with pre-dinner drinks and dinner (both for own account) at the restaurant.

Day 5: End of Itinerary

Get up this morning, and uncover South Africa’s first World Heritage Site, iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Before breakfast, go on an open safari vehicle, where you will be guided on a game drive through iSimangaliso, a place known for its beauty and peacefulness, as well as some impressive water dwelling creatures!

The park is the biggest estuarine system in Africa and home to the biggest hippo and crocodile populations in the country. Observe hippopotamus, crocodiles and an abundance of birds on an eco-friendly boat cruise on the estuary. Have lunch (own account) while taking in the lake-vista before departing for the city of Durban.
