Expert tips:

Be prepared for remote travel – The lodge is only accessible by boat , so expect multi-stage journeys and some flexibility in timing.

Pack essentials in a small, waterproof bag for the boat transfer.

Pack for rainforest conditions – Lightweight, breathable clothing, long sleeves and pants for insect protection, a hat, sturdy walking shoes, a rain jacket, and insect repellent are essential. Waterproof gear for electronics is strongly recommended.

Expect limited connectivity – Masoala is deep in the rainforest. Internet and phone service are minimal or non-existent, so be ready for a digital detox and focus on the natural environment.

Health and safety precautions – Bring any required medications, including anti-malarials and basic first aid supplies. Use insect repellent to protect against mosquitoes and other biting insects, and follow the guides’ instructions carefully during forest walks and boat transfers.
