From here you navigate the 114 curves of 600m high Chapman's Peak Drive on the way Cape Point and to explore the Cape of Good Hope section of the Table Mountain National Park, home to fabulous birds and very special fauna, such as Cape mountain zebra, bontebok and the charismatic Cape baboon. After lunch, you visit Boulders Bay to see the penguins, and then head home through the naval village of Simonstown and over scenic Boyes Drive, taking in the views of the fishing harbour at Kalk Bay and the seaside havens of St James and Muizenberg.

Day 3

Cape Town

Day notes

After a morning at leisure...

Your guide will collect you this afternoon and depart the city for Table Mountain's Lower Cableway Station. You will explore the mountain's summit and absorb the breath-taking views before descending.

You then return to the city via the old Cape Malay Quarter, for a walk through the Company Gardens, a fresh produce garden for ships and locals from the mid-17th century, and now home to the South Africa Museum, Houses of Parliament, National Gallery and St George's Cathedral. You stroll through the city to Greenmarket Square, where you can browse the bustling market stalls for beautiful and unique African mementoes.

From here, you drive to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront to board a traditionally designed 58ft gaff-rigged schooner, easily identified in the bay by her rusty brown sails. Your sunset sail around Table Bay affords fabulous views of the city lights and surrounding scenery, while enjoying sparkling wines and soft drinks. A fabulous afternoon!

Day 4

Cape Town

Day notes

Today you can sleep late and take the day at your own pace with no scheduled activities. One of South Africa's most famous beach, Camps Bay is over the road from your hotel. This a great place to take the time to soak up the sun and meander along the promenade where you will find a number of great restaurants and shops to distract you. If you don’t wish to spend the whole day lazing on the beach we suggest trying the City Sitseeing Hop-on Hop-of open top bus to get around the city - whilst taking in some of the sights along the way. There is a bus stop 100 yards from your hotel and you can purchase a day pass from the driver for R180 ($12) per person.

We recommend lunch or dinner on Cape Town’s vibrant Kloof Street. Here you are spoilt for choice but, Kloof Street House Restaurant is an experience as enigmatic as it is intimate. The delicious meals, cozy ambiance and friendly staff will make you feel right at home.

Cape Town is full of adventures and we can happily arrange for something a bit more active like a mountain bike tour, Guided Hike, Paragliding, swimming with seals or sea Kayaking.

For a bit of night life you don’t need to go far… Café Caprice in Camps Bay is very hip cocktail bar and a great spot for sundowners or for a bit more action catch a taxi to Long Street in the city for an abundance of Night Clubs and Bars (10min)

Day 5

Franschhoek

Day notes

Your guide will collect you this morning and depart the city for the Winelands in the nearby Boland Mountains for a leisurely exploration of historic towns, liquid delights, gastronomic wonders and home-grown hospitality.

Wine estates visited will vary according to your preferences, but the tour generally includes the region's major wine producing areas of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek, and there are chances aplenty en route for tastings of world-renowned reds and whites, as well as Cap Classiques - South Africa's answer to "Champagne".

Lunch at one of the many classic, award-winning restaurants in the area.

Natural and historic heritage abounds in this area and your tour may take in sights like the Afrikaans Language Monument with its panoramic Boland views. Idyllic Franschhoek, nestled in a valley settled by French Huguenots in 1688, is a delight for both antique lovers and gastronomes alike. Stellenbosch, South Africa's second-oldest town, provides another glimpse of classic 17th-century Cape style, with a chance to browse quaint Dorp Street and the many museums, galleries and shops of this lovely university town. A truly fabulous Cape experience!

Fully inclusive of transport, water and wine tastings.

NB. A lunch stop will be made en route although this is not included in the cost.
