Day 1: South Luangwa National Park

Welcome to Mfuwe . You will be greeted upon arrival by one of our team members and transfer you to the world renowned Mfuwe Lodge. Famous for the elephants who walk through the lobby to reach wild mango trees, Mfuwe Lodge has so much more going for it.  Set beneath a canopy of ebony and mahogany, its thatched buildings are arranged around the banks of two lagoons where an endless stream of wildlife will keep you enthralled as you lounge on the open deck or take a dip in the swimming pool.

Secluded covered verandas look out over wallowing hippo and thirsty game in the lagoons, while the newly refurbished African interiors are the perfect place to wind down with their comfortable sitting rooms and en suite bathrooms with panoramic walk-in showers.

Led by an experienced team of guides, game drives  set out at first light, and then again in the late afternoon when the wildlife is at its most active.

Day 2: South Luangwa National Park

Head out first thing this morning and take in one of Africa’s treasured wilderness regions. Animals in the area include giraffe, buffalo, antelope, crocodile and many more! After your morning safari, enjoy breakfast back at the lodge and take the afternoon at leisure …maybe take a dip in the pool or relax and watch the hippos from the viewing deck. Set off on your afternoon game drive before coming back for sundowners  and dinner.  In the evening,  be sure to take advantage of a night drive to pick out an entirely new cast of nocturnal creatures!

Days 3 - 5: South Luangwa National Park

Depart from Mfuwe on a game drive enjoying the scenery and animals on the way to Bilimungwe Bush camp. You will enjoy a warm welcome from the staff at your new home for the next 3 nights.

The heart of camp is the lounge, built around a termite mound and set beneath a huge winterthorn tree. Prepare to see all manner of wildlife coming to the lagoon to drink, or set up near the river to see even more wildlife in this nature lover's paradise.

Both walking safaris and game drives are offered. Explore the impressive range of habitats in the area,  and with our professional guides to lead you, you could not be in better hands.

Days 6 - 7: South Luangwa National Park

This morning you will head out on foot from Bilimungwe on a journey with your experienced guide, gaining insight of the African bush and taking in the wilderness around you! Walking safaris are not to be missed as you really see things afoot that you will entirely miss when in a vehicle.

After your morning safari, depart to Kapamba, your next bush camp, where you will spend the following 2 nights.

Kapamba combines the isolation and superb game-viewing opportunities of a true bushcamp with a touch of luxury. Set on the banks of the shallow, spring-fed eponymous river, Kapamba is surrounded by some of the park’s most diverse wildlife.

The charm of your bush camp is most obvious in its four spacious en-suite chalets; cool, simple and utterly original, these entirely open-fronted rooms boast wide verandas with river views, twin showers, and sunken stone plunge pools – watching an elephant take a dip in the river can be quite an experience when you’re lounging in your own private bath! And if that’s still not close enough for you, why not enjoy your G&T from the middle of the river itself, your feet dipped in the cool, crystal shallows. Get out into the bush and explore the rich diversity of the surrounding area on morning and afternoon walks, or jump into a Land Rover for day and night game drives.

Days 8 - 9: South Luangwa National Park

This morning you will leave Kapamba for a short safari along the river in time for lunch at your next camp, where you will spend 2 nights.

Zungulila Bushcamp embodies the essence of old Africa and a bygone era, with breathtaking views onto a bend in the River and an expansive plain where natural springs attract a variety of game. Built under thatch roofs, each of the four shaded tents has its own private bamboo veranda with immense views over an impressive variety of wildlife.

Our expert guides will lead you on foot through some of the park’s most untouched wilderness, where large herds of buffalo roam the grassy plains and thirsty elephants come to drink at the springs and along the Kapamba River. Activities are focused around walking, but to get even further afield, day and night game drives are also on offer. In the evening, after wading through the river, we invite you to join your hosts for sundowners, or sit around the campfire for a drink, before recounting the day’s adventures over a starlit supper overlooking the river.
