10 days Wetland, Waterfall & Wilderness: Okavango, Victoria Falls and Hwange

Day 1 - 4

Okavango Delta

Day notes

Day 1 to 4: Karangoma: A Hidden Paradise in the Okavango Delta, Botswana

Your luxury fly-in safari begins with a memorable bush plane flight to the Vumbura airstrip. The moment the aircraft door opens, the warm scent of the African grasslands welcomes you. But the true highlight of your arrival is yet to come: the final leg of the journey to your lodge is completed by helicopter. Flying low over the Delta, you will see the "hieroglyphs" of elephant paths and the blue veins of the waterways winding beneath you.

Your stay: Karangoma
Karangoma is a masterpiece of intimacy and luxury, featuring just 8 rooms. The lodge is strategically located where the Delta's permanent swamplands transition into drier woodlands. This ensures an immense concentration and variety of wildlife. In the immediate vicinity of Karangoma, you will find a treasure trove of biodiversity. During game drives and boat trips, you will go in search of:

  • Icons of the water: Large buffalo herds and elephant pods wading through the channels, while hippos loudly defend their territory.

  • Delta specialties: Spot the rare red lechwe and the elegant reedbuck—antelopes that have fully adapted to life in the water. You may also see the tsessebe, Africa’s fastest antelope, and large dazzles of zebras roaming the open plains.

  • The hunters: With a bit of luck, you might spot a leopard scanning the surroundings from the shade of a large ebony tree.

Activities:

  • Mokoro Safari: Glide silently through the reed beds in a traditional canoe. This is the most serene way to experience the Delta; you will hear only the rippling water and the haunting call of the African fish eagle.

  • Game Drives: Explore the deeper bush in open safari vehicles, both during the day and in the early evening with a spotlight to spot nocturnal animals.

Day 5 - 6

Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Day notes

Day 5 & 6: Kabakwe; The Power of Nature at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

You depart the watery world of the Delta once again in style by helicopter. This is your final chance for that perfect aerial photograph of Botswana’s winding rivers and hidden islands. Following a connecting bush plane flight to Kasane and a short road transfer, you will reach the Zimbabwean border. Your destination: Kabakwe.

Your stay: Kabakwe
With just 18 rooms, this lodge is a sanctuary of peace and personalized service. It serves as the ideal base to explore the spectacular surroundings of the falls without staying in the hustle and bustle of the town center. The "Mosi-oa-Tunya" (The Smoke That Thunders) is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The mist from the falls can rise hundreds of meters, sustaining a lush, permanent rainforest right at the edge of the abyss.

  • Explore the Falls: Take an awe-inspiring walk along the edge of the gorge, where the water plunges with raw power 100 meters down into the Batoka Gorge.

  • Sunset Cruise: Enjoy a sunset cruise on the mighty Zambezi River. While sipping a cocktail, you can watch elephants crossing the river and hear the "laughter" of hippos against the backdrop of a fiery red African sun.

  • Culture & Adventure: Visit local communities for an authentic cultural experience, enjoy a luxury lunch on the riverbank, or opt for an adrenaline rush such as white-water rafting or bungee jumping.

Important information regarding your stay in Victoria Falls: All tours and activities in Victoria Falls (such as the "Tour of the Falls," cruises, and excursions) are not included in the tour price. This gives you the freedom to decide on the spot what you would like to do. These activities can easily be booked separately through us or directly at the lodge.

Day 7 - 9

Central Hwange National Park

Day notes

Day 7 to 9: Camp Hwange: In the Land of Giants, Hwange National Park

Today, you leave the mist of the falls behind and board your bush plane for a direct flight to the Shumba airstrip. During the flight, you’ll get an impressive aerial view of the dense teak forests and the endless golden savannas of Hwange, Zimbabwe's largest national park. You land in the heart of the wilderness, where your guide will be waiting to transfer you to the camp.

Your stay: Camp Hwange
Camp Hwange captures the atmosphere of a classic safari. The lodge is intimate (8 rooms) and overlooks a busy waterhole. Here, even between activities, you can watch the wildlife drink from your private terrace with a cold drink in hand.

Hwange is renowned for its immense biodiversity and large concentrations of wildlife. In this area, you will search for:

  • The Giants of Hwange: The park is world-famous for its massive elephant population. Additionally, you will see large herds of zebras, giraffes, kudus, and buffaloes.

  • Rare Antelopes: This is the place to spot the majestic sable and roan antelopes, as well as the ever-alert impala.

  • Predators: The abundance of grazers naturally attracts hunters; your chances of seeing lions here are remarkably high.

Included Activities:
At Camp Hwange, you don’t have to worry about extra costs; the full safari experience is included.

  • Walking Safaris (The Specialty): Camp Hwange is world-renowned for its walking safaris. Accompanied by world-class guides, you will leave the vehicle behind to experience the bush with all your senses. Encountering an elephant on foot is a life-changing experience.

  • Game Drives (Day & Night): Explore the vast reserve in open safari vehicles. Night drives are also included, using a spotlight to track nocturnal animals.

Important information: Unlike your stay at the falls, you will stay here on a Full Board & Activities basis. This means that all professional guiding services, walks, game drives, meals, and selected drinks are fully included in the price.
