Day 1: Kruger National Park

Tuesday: 

Arrive Johannesburg preferably on a morning flight. Connect onto 11h00 flight to Skukuza . 1 hour flight, then meet and greet in 4 x 4 at the airport, transfer 30 minutes to the lodge. Freshen up, before a relaxing afternoon safari drive.  Welcome dinner

Lion Sands is set in a prime Big 5 location, set on the banks of the perennial Sabie river, which makes for excellent game viewing, even from the comfort of your own bed. The river is the lifeblood of this part of Kruger National Park, and sets the tone for a great safari experience from the moment you arrive.

Day 2: Kruger National Park

Wednesday:

A typical programme looks like this, maximizing the early morning and late afternoon time frames, to seek out the Big 5, outside of the heat of the day, and when the predators and a lot of animals are active. 

Typical programme: 

Early morning wake up call: 05h30 am

06H00- 09h00: Morning safari drive, with expert ranger.  Early morning snacks and hot drinks served before departure, and whilst en route, we stop for a fresh snack and cold drinks. 

 09h30- 11h30: Return to the lodge for breakfast/ brunch

13h00- 15h00: time at leisure for a light lunch,  to enjoy the swimming pool and the cool tranquility of your room, with views directly onto the Sand river. 

15h30: High tea is served with lovely light finger foods, sandwiches, sweet and salt pastries, and drinks.  

16h00: Head out on the afternoon safari drive with expert safari ranger in safari jeeps. 

19h30: Return to camp after sunset, with last section of the drive looking for nocturnal animals and predators such as lion and leopard. 

19h30 onwards dinner/ served either under roof, or around a bush barbeque under the stars. 

21h00 head back to your rooms.

Day 4: Cape Town

Friday: 

After breakfast, and final game drive, transfer to Skukuza airport, fly directly to Cape Town 11h00- 13h55.  Transfer 20 minutes to hotel. Short orientation tour of the city before returning to the hotel 1 hour 30 minutes before sunset in order to prepare for Shabbat, walk to local Orthodox Shul nearby. Shabbat dinner included. Daily Minyans available at the local Shul.

The selection of our hotel is ideal in that its located in the heart of an up and coming area with short rides to key attractions like Table Mountain Cable Way, the heart of Company Gardens and Houses of Parliament, South African National Gallery,  as well as walking distance from the oldest synagogue in the Southern Hemisphere, and a lovely Milchik restaurant on site.

( one of only 4 possibilities to eat out Kosher in the whole city)

1 final morning safari drive, farewell breakfast, and then flights to Cape Town. Shabbat Friday night meal. 

Day 5: Cape Town

Saturday: 

full day at leisure for shabbat. All shabbat meals are included

Expert tips

The incredibly ornate and stunning, Cape Town Hebrew Congregation Shul, is a must visit for Shabbat services, alive with the history  and contributions of many hard working Jewish families through the decades.

Day 6: Cape Town

Sunday: 

Full day highlights of Cape Town tour, including Cape of Good Hope , Boulders Penguin colony, Chapmans peak drive and end the day on Table Mountain with a sundowner drink and snacks. ( Weather permitting)

*If Table Mountain Cable Way  is closed due to strong winds or rainy weather , we will supplement this with Signal Hill viewpoint, set just below Table Mountain,  with panoramic views of the city from above.

Day 7: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Monday:

Early morning breakfast, then transfer to airport at 06h00, 08h30 departure for Victoria Falls, arrival 11h15.  Transfer to the hotel. Afternoon guided tour of the Victoria falls and rainforest within the national park.

Breakfast in Cape Town, flights to Victoria Falls,  lunch on the plane, and guided tour of the falls, including all national park fees and government taxes.  Dinner at Stanley and Livingstone. ( Parev meals in Zimbabwe. Fleischik meals on request at an extra charge, and subject to availability of Mehadrin commission meat imports from South Africa)

Day 8: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Tuesday: 

Morning at leisure to enjoy beautiful setting of Stanley and livingstone,  and on site activities such as spa treatments, guided walks, on site game drives ( optional, to your own account) followed by a lovely sunset cruise on the Zambezi river ( included )

Expert tips

Very few people know that in the area,  lies a small town called Livingstone, set just across the border in Zambia. If you do not want to take the morning off, at relax. 

Why not take a trip to see the recently restored Synagogue, and add a walking tour of the falls,  seen from the opposite side, where you can get a lot closer to the falls, and the rainforest. 

Cost is U$ 120 per person, for transport across the border from Zimbabwe into Zambia, Zambian national park fees, donation to the Shul, and viewpoint entrance fees to the Zambian side of the falls.

Day 9: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Wednesday: 

Today we will enjoy a guided tour of a local african village, followed by an afternoon game drive in Vic Falls national park, with a farewell sundowner and personalised gift.

Day 10: End of Itinerary

Thursday: 

After breakfast, 10H30 transfer to Victoria Falls airport, for return flight to Johannesburg.  Flight 13H55- 15H35.
