You arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and are met by your driver-guide for a private transfer to your first accommodation in Arusha. Enjoy your initial views of the Tanzanian landscape as you settle in after the long journey. You can enjoy the beautiful garden or the swimming pool and prepare for your safari.
After a leisurely breakfast at your Arusha-area accommodation, you will be transferred to Arusha Airport (ARK) for your scheduled light aircraft flight to Seronera in the Serengeti. The flight offers spectacular aerial views of the Rift Valley, Ngorongoro Crater, and the endless golden plains of the Serengeti.
Upon landing, your driver-guide will meet you for a short transfer to the camp in the heart of the park. This prime location provides excellent access to prime wildlife areas with abundant plains game, predators, and seasonal migration routes.
In the afternoon, enjoy your first game drive. As the sun begins to lower, scan the acacia-dotted plains for elephants, giraffes, zebra herds, and the iconic Big Five. Return to camp for sundowners around the firepit, followed by a delicious dinner under the stars while listening to the sounds of the African night—lions roaring, hyenas whooping, and the occasional rustle of wildlife near camp
Your day begins early with a wake-up call (typically around 5:30–6:00 AM) and coffee/tea delivered to your tent. Head out on a morning game drive as the sun rises over the plains—prime time for spotting active predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards, along with large herds of wildebeest, zebra, and antelope. Your knowledgeable guide will share insights into animal behaviour, tracks, and the ecosystem.
Return to camp mid-morning for a hearty breakfast. Spend the midday hours relaxing in your tent, lounging in the communal areas, or enjoying birdwatching right from camp, where giraffes and elephants are often seen wandering nearby.
In the late afternoon, embark on another game drive (around 3:30–4:00 PM), perhaps focusing on different areas or following interesting sightings from the morning.
After an early breakfast you will be transferred by vehicle to the Fort Ikoma region of the Serengeti. The drive offers excellent access to the central Serengeti’s rich game viewing. After a warm welcome and check-in, enjoy a delicious lunch at camp. In the afternoon, head out on a game drive in the central Serengeti, one of the most productive areas for year-round wildlife sightings. Look out for resident lion prides, cheetahs on the open plains, large buffalo herds, elephants, giraffes, and a variety of plains game. The central region’s kopjes (rocky outcrops) often provide excellent vantage points for big cats resting in the shade.
As the sun sets, return to camp for sundowners around the firepit, followed by a relaxing evening with excellent cuisine and the immersive sounds of the Serengeti night.
Another full day dedicated to game viewing in the Serengeti. Today you will enjoy a bush walk which allows you to explore the region on foot, a wonderful way to learn from the local Maasai about how they live here such as the use of local plants and how they track animals.
After a final morning activity in the Serengeti, you fly from Seronera airstrip to Rubondo Island. Upon arrival, you are transferred to camp. Spend the rest of the day settling in and enjoying the unique atmosphere of this remote, forested island sanctuary in Lake Victoria.
Enjoy walks through this sub-tropical ecosystem where dappled light dances through the canopy, highlighting every shade of green imaginable, accompanied by the never-ending chorus of insects and birds.
The lush tropical forest is teeming with life, including chimpanzee, Colobus monkey, elephant, and over 300 bird species including fish eagle and African grey parrot. In the afternoons, unwind in a hammock and dip in the swimming pool, or head out onto the water to enjoy bird watching safari along the shoreline or catch-and-release fishing safari in the deeper waters. In the evenings, savour drinks on the tranquil beach before hippo emerge from the water after sunset to munch on the grass surrounding the camp. Immerse yourself in genuine experiential travel. Various exciting activities such as walking, boating, fishing, game drives, birding and chimpanzee trekking cater to a myriad interests.
This morning you will enjoy trekking to see the chimpanzees of Rubondo Island.
On Rubondo Island, chimpanzee trekking is one of the most rewarding and intimate wildlife experiences of your safari. After a short boat ride or drive from your camp, you set off on foot with an experienced local guide and ranger into the lush, tropical forest that covers much of the island. The habituated chimpanzee community — originally introduced to the island in the 1960s — is well accustomed to visitors, allowing you to spend up to one magical hour observing them in their natural habitat. You’ll trek through thick vegetation, listening for their calls and pant-hoots, before encountering the group as they forage, groom, play, and move through the canopy. The experience offers wonderful opportunities to watch their complex social interactions, powerful displays, and tender moments between mothers and infants, all while your guide shares fascinating insights into their behaviour and the island’s conservation story. The trek is moderately challenging depending on where the chimps are that day, but the thrill of coming face-to-face with these intelligent primates in such a remote and beautiful lakeside forest makes it truly unforgettable.
Enjoy a final morning activity on Rubondo Island before flying back to Arusha Airport (ARK). From there, you will be transferred to your onward destination or to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your international departure.
