Depending on your arrival time, explore the capital, enjoy dinner at one of the local restaurants, or simply relax after your journey.
After breakfast, depart Windhoek and begin your self-drive journey south-west towards the spectacular landscapes of the Namib Desert. The drive takes you through changing scenery, from Namibia's central highlands into increasingly arid desert terrain. Arrive at Desert Hills Glamping Camp in the afternoon and settle in while enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
Rise early for a visit to the iconic dunes of Sossusvlei. Enter the Namib-Naukluft area around sunrise and explore highlights such as the towering dunes, Deadvlei and Sossusvlei. Afterwards, return to the lodge and spend the afternoon relaxing, or visit Sesriem Canyon if time allows.
Today you travel north towards Namibia's Atlantic coast. The journey takes you through the dramatic Namib Desert, passing Solitaire and crossing the vast gravel plains before reaching the coastal town of Swakopmund. Check into Namib Guesthouse and enjoy the evening at leisure, with a wide selection of restaurants nearby.
Enjoy a full day in Swakopmund at your own pace. Choose from a variety of optional activities, including a marine cruise from Walvis Bay, a Sandwich Harbour excursion, scenic flights, quad biking or desert tours. Alternatively, explore Swakopmund's shops, cafés and historic architecture before enjoying another evening on the coast.
Leave the coast behind and travel inland towards the rugged landscapes of Damaraland. The scenery changes dramatically as you journey through vast open spaces, rocky mountains and dry riverbeds. Arrive at Malansrus Tented Camp near Twyfelfontein and enjoy a relaxed evening surrounded by the tranquillity of this remarkable region.
Spend the day discovering the fascinating attractions around Twyfelfontein. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site to see its ancient rock engravings and learn about the area's cultural history. Depending on your interests and time, you may also explore nearby geological attractions or join an optional excursion in search of Damaraland's desert-adapted elephants.
After breakfast, continue your journey towards Etosha National Park. Arrive at Taleni Etosha Village, conveniently situated near the southern entrance to the park. Depending on your arrival time, spend the afternoon relaxing at the lodge or venture into Etosha for your first self-drive wildlife experience.
Today is dedicated to exploring Etosha National Park in your own vehicle. Follow the network of roads between the park's numerous waterholes, keeping watch for elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelope and predators. The vast Etosha Pan creates a striking backdrop to a memorable day of wildlife viewing.
After breakfast, enter Etosha National Park and make your way east through the park towards the Von Lindequist Gate. Enjoy a full day of self-drive game viewing along the way, stopping at waterholes and viewpoints as you please. Exit the park in the late afternoon and continue to Mushara Bush Camp.
Enjoy another opportunity to explore Etosha, this time focusing on the eastern section of the park. Set out in your own vehicle or opt for a guided game drive offered by the lodge. With no fixed schedule, you can spend as much time as you wish at productive waterholes before returning to Mushara Bush Camp for a relaxed evening.
Depart the Etosha area and travel south towards Otjiwarongo and Otjiwa Safari Lodge. The journey takes you through Namibia's central-northern farming country before arriving at Otjiwa. Settle into Eagle's Rest and enjoy a peaceful afternoon surrounded by the reserve's natural landscapes and wildlife.
Enjoy a leisurely final full day of your safari at Otjiwa. Optional activities may include nature drives, guided excursions or simply relaxing at the lodge and enjoying the surroundings. It is a pleasant opportunity to slow down and reflect on your journey through Namibia before returning to Windhoek the following day.
After breakfast, depart Otjiwa and drive south towards Windhoek. Depending on your onward travel arrangements, continue to the designated vehicle drop-off point and proceed to Hosea Kutako International Airport for your departure flight, bringing your self-drive journey through Namibia to an end.
