Mashpi Lodge 4D

Mashpi Lodge: Early in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel in Quito, to begin your journey to the northwest of Metropolitan District of Quito. During the trip, you will pass by La Mitad del Mundo (Middle of the World Monument), and continue downhill while you see the vegetation changes. Arrival to the lodge at noon. After lunch and rest, you will begin with an introductory walk through the cloud forest, along trails that wind around roots and trees. Then return to the hotel for dinner and end the day with a night walk.

Hummingbird Garden and Observation Tower: Early in the morning you can begin with a visit to the panoramic terrace of the lodge to watch the sunrise and hear the menagerie of birds that inhabit the ecosystem surrounding the lodge. After breakfast you will hike towards a waterfall, to bath in a magnificent crash of water, or you can go to the Hummingbird Garden. You can also visit the Life Centre´s butterflies. After lunch, you can go to the aerial Sky Bike and climb up the Observation Tower to watch the sunset. In the evening you will assist to a lecture, the “Secret Wildlife of Mashpi: The Camera Trap Project,” “The Choco: A Biological Hotspot” about the information and diversity of the Chocó Region or the scientific research projects done in this spot.

Dragonfly cable car: First activity of the day will be heading to a hike through the forest, to discover the amazing flora and fauna of the cloud forest. Then you will glide above and through the forest canopy aboard the amazing Dragon fly aerial cable car. After lunch you can explore the forest trails on your own or head to a different waterfall.

Return to Quito: On the last day, after breakfast, you will have more time to explore the forest trails. Then, you will check out at 11 a.m., and be transferred back to Quito city.
