Transfer to Pegasus Reef Hotel for a two night stay.

After breakfast, enjoy a free day to relax and recover from your journey.

Depart by Private Transfer to Heritance Kandalama via Minneriya Elephant National Park 

You will be met by your adventure tour guide and driver, departing after breakfast for the drive (approx. 4 hours) through lush green  countryside, a mix of coconut palms, paddy fields and banana plantations.  

There will be opportunities to stop, en route for comfort breaks

At Minneriya you will enjoy a game drive  to see elephants in their natural.

Check in to Kandalama for a 2 night stay

Enjoy the facilities of the hotel.

 This morning you drive to the foot of the Lions Rock at Sigiriya. The imposing 5th century rock fortress of Sigiriya rises 600 feet from the plains overlooking the  surrounding countryside and giving far-reaching views. Used as a safe haven  from invaders, the route to the top goes via a series of steep steps and  gangways.

From the base, where a moat surrounds impressive water gardens,  we ascend 200m, passing an overhanging rock under which superb portraits of  native maidens holding flowers and temple offerings still adorn the rock wall.  Crowning the flat-topped summit of the rock are extensive remains of the King's  Summer Palace.

Return transfer to Kandalama

Today, after breakfast you check out and enjoy the drive to Kandy.

 On the way there is the option to stop at a Batik shop and spice garden near Matale where you can see various spices and herbs growing. A chance for some shopping and to stock up on massage oils, spices and Ayurvedic medicines.

Transfer to the Earls Regency Hotel for a 2 night stay

In the evening, enjoy a cultural show with a performance of traditional Sri Lankan dancing and fire walking. 

After breakfast visit the Temple of the Tooth, which houses Sri  Lanka's most important Buddhist relic. The Tooth of Buddha was taken from the  funeral pyre in 543 BC and only found its way to Sri Lanka in the 4th century AD.

After your visit,  there may be an opportunity to take a tour of the city, taking in a beautiful viewpoint over Kandy overlooked by a huge Buddha or a visit to a market or the gem museum where you can see the products of the traditional methods of gem extraction.

Return transfer to Earls Regency

Following breakfast, check out and transfer to Kandy train station where you will catch a train to Ella. (Approx. 4 hours). The train travels through the cloud forest into the tea plantations, with breath taking views of the lush valley below. Please note that at times, particularly in peak season, the train may be extremely busy with standing room only.

On arrival, your driver guide will meet you and transfer on to Mount Heaven Hotel for a 2 night stay

After breakfast enjoy a day exploring Ella. We recommend a hike up Little Adams Peak and a visit to 9 Arch Bridge.

Return to your hotel

After breakfast, check out and enjoy a leisurely drive heading south out of the hills you will travel to Yala via Kataragama on the plains.

Check in to Jet Wing Yala for a 1 night stay

After breakfast you will check out and head out for your safari at Sri Lanka's best-known national park, Yala

The park is popular for elephant, leopard, bear, crocodile and Wild boar. At 97,800 hectares, this is the second largest of Sri Lanka's national parks. Its open undulating terrain made it famous for elephants for many years, but recently the park has also become better known for leopard

After your game drive, transfer on to Buckingham Place Hotel, where you will check in for a 6 night stay.

Your driver will return for your airport transfer

Proceed to check in and onwards for your 1830 hr, return flight to the UK
