Day 1:
Let the adventure begin! On this first morning we'll pick you up at your hotel in Todos Santos or La Paz, take you to get your wet suit and snorkeling gear at our warehouse in La Paz, then it's off to the boats for the hour (or so) boat ride to Isla Espiritu Santo. There your guide will give a detailed briefing on kayaking skills and safety procedures, then it will be time to start your kayaking tour of the island! We'll paddle to the first of the 3 beautiful beaches we'll visit on this adventure, enjoying the magnificent beauty of the island and ocean along the way. At camp the staff will greet you, get you settled into your tents, then it's time to kick back, enjoy the first of many wonderful meals, and relax into the luxury of nature.
Day 2:
Today is yours to do exactly what pleases you in the fantastic nature of isla Espiritu Santo and the Sea of Cortez: snorkeling, hiking, swimming with sea lions, bird watching, beach combing, looking for sea turtles, mantas, dolphins and whales. Reading, napping, swimming, chillin'. Sipping margaritas, gazing at stars, checking out the bioluminescence. Explore the beauty of Baja!
Day 3:
Today is another great paddling day, moving from our first camp to the next beautiful beach that we will call home for two nights. While the camp staff is recreating Camp Colossus in the next location, you'll be paddling the coves, inlets, shoreline and mangroves of Isla Espiritu Santo, checking out the flora, fauna, geology and natural history of the place with great stories and insights from your naturalist guide. Happy hour, a wonderful dinner and star gazing await you at the next Camp Colossus location.
Day 4:
Be as active or lazy as you like today! Hike to the highest point on the island for spectacular views, snorkel at the furthest reef to spy on sea turtles, octopuses, and reef fish, and/or lay around day dreaming, reading trashy novels, sipping a cold one, working on your nature photography skills. All this accompanied by wonderful meals, happy hour, gorgeous sunsets and a star-filled night. Pretty much what living is all about.
Day 5:
Today is our last big paddle at the island, and we'll wend our way along the magnificent island coastline, enjoying the freedom of paddling below the lava cliffs and granite ridges to the last spectacular beach of our trip. Maybe today we'll spot some of the endemic mammal species of the island, including the black jackrabbit, the ring-tailed cat known as the babisuri, and the antelope squirrel. Maybe we'll get in one last swim with the sea lion puppies at Los Islotes, or perhaps a final snorkel with the sea turtles near our camp. One thing that is certain is that we'll enjoy more wonderful meals in a pristine location, soaking in the wild natural beauty that is Baja.
Day 6:
After breakfast (and perhaps one final beach walk, one final snorkel) we'll get into the panga and head back to La Paz. We typically arrive at the dock by 11:00 AM, and from there our drivers will take you to your hotel in either La Paz or Todos Santos. Say adios, but not good-bye!
