- A meet and greet service representative will be waiting to meet you on arrival at Lusaka International Airport before you have gone through immigration and customs procedures. After clearing into Zambia you will be directed to the domestic check-in counters for your flight to Mfuwe in the South Luangwa, this flight will take just over one hour.
- Your first camp Mfuwe Lodge, is situated a few kilometres inside the National Park and in the middle of what is surely one of Africa’s most game rich areas.
- Most of your game-viewing from this camp will be by vehicle both day and night, walking is possible but this will mostly be left for when you are at the bush-camps.
From Mfuwe Lodge you will be driven deep into the National Park and to your first bush-camp – Bilimungwe. Being the only Safari operator in the southern section of the Park, The Bushcamp Company pride themselves on the intimate nature of their small, exclusive camps.
On arrival at camp you will be introduced to the guide that will host you for the next few days and most importantly to your armed escort scout who will, in large part, be responsible for your safety.
- Staying in the remote southern sector of the National Park your next camp is set away from the main Luangwa River but on one of its tributaries, the shallow clear flowing Kapamba river.
- Again your daily activities can be flexible but usually you would go out on foot in the morning and then by vehicle in the evening staying out after dark and searching for various nocturnal species and predator activity with the spot-light on your way back to camp.
- When you leave South Luangwa, you will fly via Lusaka to the Lower Zambezi and to Royal Airstrip, the transfer from here to Chiawa Camp is 10 minutes by car followed by a 15-minute boat ride.
- As with most Lower Zambezi camps you can choose between a wide variety of activities, game drives and walks are on offer each day.
- Time spent out on the river cruising with a drink in hand watching the animals and birds on the bank is great fun.
- You can also try your luck at catching a tiger fish or two.
- Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at Chiawa and everyone is made to feel very special.
- Your flight from Mfuwe through Lusaka to Livingstone will bring you to your final destination on this safari.
- The Zambian section of your trip will finish in Livingstone 17 kilometres upstream from the Falls.
- This camp is well designed to take advantage of the views across a wide bend in the main river.
- The central area is delightfully colonial in style with old books and silverware to complete the illusion that one has stepped back in time. There is also pool with a fantastic elevated view of the river.
- A 45 minute road transfer will return you to Livingstone International Airport where you will connect to your onward flight.
