Day 1: Cape Town

Cape Peninsula (Active)

This tour is perfect for those looking to enjoy an active tour of our beautiful Cape Peninsula, exploring the stunning beauty, magnificent scenery and biodiversity! Let our itinerary be a guideline, but remember the day is yours, so it's up to you how you wanna start or play out your day.

> Scenic drive along the Atlantic Seaboard, past Clifton and Camps Bay beaches, with the 12 Apostles rising above the blue Atlantic.

> Chapman’s Peak Drive, which offers amazing photo opportunities, and then onto the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. If lucky, you may spot some small antelope, numerous birds, the Cape Mountain Zebra, Eland and the mischievous Chacma baboons.

> Either take the funicular (included) or enjoy the footpath for a 12-minute walk up to the old Cape Point Lighthouse to experience a breathtaking panoramic view of False Bay, Cape of Good Hope and the Atlantic Ocean.

> Boulders Penguin Colony, home to the indigenous and critically endangered African Penguin.

> We continue back to Cape Town, passing through Simons Town, either over Ou Kaapse Weg or rather through Kalk Bay, to enjoy a walkabout in this cute, bohemian fishing village.

Day 2: Cape Town

Cape Winelands (Active)

Enjoy a totally customisable and active experience of our beautiful Cape Winelands. We will curate the day to your preferences and palate, marvelling at our stunning countryside, enjoying our yummy wines, visiting historic estates, quaint villages and taking in the grandeur of one of the photogenic regions South Africa has to offer.

We generally cover the Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch Wine Routes, but can also extend to other areas if you wish to book more than a single day of exploring with us.

> Introduction to our wines, which our passionate winemakers have been perfecting for over 350 years.

> Your guide will tailor the day to suit your preferences. The full spectrum of wine is available, from your easy-drinking whites to full-bodied reds, sweet wines to Cap Classique (local version of Champagne) and with your guide’s local knowledge, you can sit back and relax on a fun day out.

> Stroll through some of the most romantic little towns, market streets, art galleries, vintage car collections, magnificent gardens and grand gables of Cape Dutch architecture that really give the Cape Winelands their iconic character.

> Hear the history of these centuries-old locations and possibly visit the prison gates where Nelson Mandela took his first steps to freedom. For the more adventurous, you can also sample some of our fine brandy, craft beer, grappa, olive oils, artisan fine chocolates and even biltong!

Taste the Cape's very own Pinotage wine.  Our unique red grape varietal, cross-pollinated by a Stellenbosch University professor in 1925, has enjoyed great success and is now enjoyed not just in South Africa, but in other far reaches of the globe. Kannonkop, Moreson and Simonsig are to name a few that have mastered this delicious South African Wine

Day 3: Cape Town

City, Kirstenbosch & Constantia (Active)

Capetonians live an outdoor, active lifestyle, so why not join in and "live like a local" for a day exploring our beautiful Mother City! With a new Natural Seven Wonder of the World in Table Mountain, award-winning Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and a visit to our oldest vineyards, you are in for quite a treat. Consider our itinerary a framework; the day is yours to shape, and we will craft it perfectly to your pace and passion for discovery.

> Head for Table Mountain or Signal Hill (if the Cape Town weather decides to act out of our favour), enjoying the endless views over our Mother City and beyond.

> Journey through the city’s colonial heritage as your guide unveils its rich past, with the option to visit a museum, offering deeper historical insight.

> Enjoy a stroll through the Company Gardens, the nucleus of our city, with pigeons, geese and squirrels crisscrossing your path.

> Visit the iconic Bo-Kaap, our Cape Malay Quarter with its cobbled streets, colourful homes and rich heritage.

> Take a stroll through our magnificent Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, soaking in such highlights as the Boomslang Tree Canopy Walk, the Conservancy and everything in between. Enjoy a light lunch (own account) in the popular tea room with fantastic local South African cuisine, or hold out a few minutes longer to enjoy lunch in the tranquil Constantia Vineyards.

> Explore our Constantia Winelands, visiting one of the many incredible estates that the valley has on offer. Take a cellar tour at the historical Groot Constantia estate, our oldest in the country, or rather enjoy the amazing views and fine wines from the more contemporary, modern and glamorous estates of Steenberg or Beau Constantia.

As your day draws to a close, we can take advantage of the opportunity to take the scenic coastal route along Victoria Road through Camps Bay, especially if it is in time for a Cape Town sunset that will surely put a cherry on top of a much-enjoyed and splendid day.

Day 4: End of Itinerary

Hermanus Wine & Whales (Active)

Whilst the town of Hermanus is rated as having the best land-based whale watching in the world, the area also produces world-class wines and offers unique active experiences from the mountains to the sea!

> Spend time walking along the cliff paths overlooking Walker Bay, viewing the Southern Right Whales that frequent our waters each year (June - November).

> Optional boat-based whale watching (own account), which departs from the new harbour at 09:00 am, 11:00 am, 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm daily (subject to availability and weather).

> Savour the "cool climate" wines of the beautiful Hemel en Aarde Valley (Heaven and Earth)

> Stony Point Penguin Colony in Betty’s Bay

> Slow cruise along Clarens Drive, following the False Bay coastline, where on a clear day you can see all the way across to Cape Point.

As the Hermanus Wine & Whale tour is seasonal, when the Southern Right Whales frequent our waters from June - November each year, you may wish to rather enjoy a different tour on your last day, some options of which include:
