Days 1 - 4: Lower Zambezi

Light aircraft transfer from Lusaka to Royal Airstrip, where you will be met by your hosts and transferred to the lodge.

Royal Zambezi Lodge is a spacious but intimate privately owned lodge. The property extends over 200 hectares of the Chiawa Game Management Area on the northern bank of the Zambezi River with its own 3.5 kms of unspoiled river frontage and the scenic mountain backdrop of the valley escarpment. Royal is directly opposite the World Heritage Site, Mana Pools in Zimbabwe and minutes from the Lower Zambezi National Park.

As the setting of the lodge is so special and unique, the owners have kept the lodge in keeping with the bush while still providing you 5 Star accommodation. The lodge finds the perfect balance between contemporary, simplistic style and extreme comfort offering a completely unspoiled wilderness experience.

With lions roaring in the distance and hippos snorting nearby, the luxurious thatched suites, elegant design and gourmet cuisine of Royal Zambezi Lodge provide a perfect base from which to explore this wild and beautiful area. There are no fences around the lodge and there are often regular guests including elephant, hippo, buffalo, lion, leopard and many types of birds coming to visit.

Expert tips

Baggage allowance for light aircraft transfers: maximum 15 kg (this includes hand luggage) packed in soft bags (no hard suitcases allowed as these cannot be loaded onto the aircraft).

Day 5: End of Itinerary

Transfer to Royal Airstrip, and light aircraft transfer back to Lusaka.
