In the early morning, you set out for Amboseli National Park – a destination renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and iconic wildlife. The park is especially famous for being home to some of the last remaining elephants with massive tusks, their presence evoking images of modern-day mammoths.
Another unforgettable feature of Amboseli is the stunning view of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, towering across the border in neighboring Tanzania. From here, you’ll enjoy one of the most picture-perfect vistas of Africa’s highest peak, especially in the early morning when the summit is often revealed in all its glory.
Amboseli is a land of striking contrasts. On one hand, lush green swamps flourish, fed by crystal-clear springs. On the other, dry and dusty plains stretch out – remnants of volcanic ash deposited during Kilimanjaro’s past eruptions.
Despite its arid appearance, the park is sustained by a constant flow of glacial meltwater from the mountain. This water filters through volcanic rock and travels underground, eventually emerging at two natural springs within the park. These springs nourish not only the wetlands but also a large lake, which provides sanctuary to a variety of waterbirds – including elegant flocks of pink flamingos.
Spend another unforgettable day exploring the park on thrilling game drives in the early morning and late afternoon. Along the way, you’ll encounter a diverse array of wildlife, including zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, impalas, caracals, servals, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and mighty buffalo.
Bird enthusiasts will be delighted by over 400 bird species that call the park home—vibrant bee-eaters, swift kingfishers, majestic African fish eagles, powerful martial eagles, and agile pygmy falcons among them.
Yet, most visitors come for the magnificent elephant herds, eagerly searching for the park’s superstar tuskers—elephants with truly impressive tusks that capture the imagination.
The view of Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest free-standing mountain in the world, can often be shrouded in mist, but your best chance to witness its breathtaking majesty is early in the morning, when the skies are clearest—offering a sight you won’t soon forget.
This morning, after breakfast, you will be driven to the Namnaga border and cross into Tanzania. Here you will be met by a new driver guide who will be with you for the rest of your trip. He will take you to the West Kilimanjaro region (about 3 hours). In the afternoon you will enjoy cultural activities with the local Maasai people.
Spend the day in West Kilimanjaro region with the Maasai or enjoy an optional Shira Plateau hike.
Today, after breakfast, you will travel to Materuni Village. Here you will enjoy a hike to some scenic waterfalls and a tour of a coffee plantation.
This morning, after breakfast, you will travel to Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you will catch a flight back home.
