Day 1: Lima

Upon arrival at Jorge Chaves International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2: Lima

After breakfast, you will be met at your hotel for a half day private tour of the Artistic and Bohemian Barranco.

Visit one of Lima’s symbolic markets to appreciate the amazing variety of fish, exotic fruits, and vegetables used in Peruvian food. You will be equipped with a list of products and descriptions of food you will encounter to help you enjoy this visit even more.

Afterwards, you will watch as the chef of a renowned restaurant demonstrates how to prepare Peru’s main dishes, and you will learn how to make an exquisite typical Peruvian dish yourself. Rounding out this culinary experience is a great typical Peruvian lunch.

Barranco is a district with a vast tradition and history, boasting lovely streets, old mansions, and plazas. It is famous for being the most bohemian and culturally oriented of Lima’s districts, with museums, designer boutiques, handicraft fairs, and live music. Start off with a stroll on famous “Puente de los Suspiros” (Bridge of Sighs) and breathe in some of the air of Lima past.

Next is the Pedro de Osma Museum, where you will see the finest collection of Colonial paintings, furniture, and textiles.

The tour continues with a stop at the museum of renowned photographer Mario Testino, where on display is the most extensive collection of his photographs; it is the only cultural institution in the world with permanent exhibits of this famous Peruvian artist.

End your day in Lima in an unexpected way: enjoying the sunset with dinner at a well-known restaurant on the Pacific coast. You will be driven to Cala Restaurant, which is situated right on the coastline, where you will enjoy

watching a fantastic sunset and drinking a pisco-based cocktail.

Afterwards, dinner is served, and it will be something utterly delicious from the sea, maybe a traditional Peruvian dish or an international one.

Day 3: Cusco

At due time, your will be met and your hotel for your airport transfer.

Depart on a scheduled flight to Cusco.

On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Enjoy free time to rest and acclimatize to the high altitude.

In the afternoon, you will be met at your hotel for a private half day city and archaeological tour.

Get to know the city of Cusco, an UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site and possessor of a style of its own. The tour begins at the Koricancha Temple, an old Incan palace and main center for the worship of the sun god, Inti.

Once the Spanish conquered Peru, the Dominican order built a lovely church over this temple’s foundations: the church of Santo Domingo, that is still there today. Your next destination is the Main Square, and then the adventure continues at the Sacsayhuaman Fortress built of enormous stone blocks expertly shaped by the Incas.

It is strategically located at the top of a hill overlooking the city of Cuzco. What a view of the city!

The tour continues with visits to three archaeological sites: Qenko, Puca-Pucara, and Tambomachay, important religious and administrative centers for the Incas.

But your day is not finished, for you will return to the city for a stopover at the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art, one of the few museums dedicated to exhibiting artworks from ancient Peruvian cultures.

Day 4: The Sacred Valley of the Incas

Today you will set off for the Sacred Valley of the Incas, heading towards the town of Pisac to tour its impressive archaeological site on the mountain top, one of the most important in the Valley, featuring incredible terraced hillsides and a high degree of urban planning.

After the tour, you will descend to the town and spend some time in the local market, interacting with the people, observing the local identity, and doing a little shopping.

You will take part in a mystical rite called “pago a la tierra”, which is an offering to the earth and a means for you to better understand the Andean world view. It is celebrated by a shaman, an Andean priest, who will give thanks to the Pacha Mama or mother Earth, by presenting an offering of different elements that represent the people’s effort and faith.

Enjoy lunch at Hacienda Sarapamapa learning some of the history of the farm, and tasting a traditional meal of Peru Pachamanca, and enjoyed relaxing in beautiful and peaceful surroundings.

Day 5: The Sacred Valley of the Incas

You will travel to Moray, a fantastic place where circular and semi-circular agricultural terraces were built into the top of a limestone hill overlooking the Urubamba Valley and were used by the Incas as a botanical laboratory.

Apart from their agricultural function, some believe they have a mystical meaning that we have yet to unlock.

Close at hand is the Colonial village of Maras, famed for its salt pans where one of the finest salts in the world (which enjoys a denomination of origin) is extracted: Maras salt. The area looks like a patchwork of terraces and ponds that photographers just love to take astounding pictures of.

Then, you will visit the Andean community of Misminay, to share with the community members their daily activities. You can choose between helping them

plow or harvest their crops, depending on the time of year, you can even take part in a ceremony that honors mother earth, you can see them spin and dye wool thread using natural dyes as well as weave fabric following their ancient techniques, or maybe ride on a donkey’s back, among other activities.

Dine at Wayra restaurant located in the Sacred Valley; the restaurant is a large, colourful open space with large windows looking out onto the stunning mountains and gardens.

The nicest thing about Wayra is that despite being a large tourist focused restaurant it still manages to maintain its warm, family feel. The vibe is laid-back and casual and it’s a nice option for a lazy, meal with friends or family.

Day 6: Machu Picchu Pueblo

You will set off to see one of the most visited tourist attractions in the world: Machu Picchu, onboard the exclusive Belmond Hiram Bingham, a luxury train operated by PeruRail. Not only will you get the most incredible views of the surrounding countryside, but you will enjoy a delicious brunch on the bar car.

What a way to start off your adventure! Upon your arrival, a professional guide will drive you to the archaeological site where you will definitely have the most intense experience you will never forget.

Later on, you will spend some time resting at the Belmond Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge and then start your return trip to Aguas Calientes town.

Tonight, enjoy dinner at your hotel.

Day 7: Cusco

Second entrance to Machu Picchu – includes round trip bus ride; and guide.

Morning is free to visit the Machu Picchu archeological complex on your own.

Rejoin the Hiram Binghma for your return to Cuzco.

Pre-dinner cocktails are served in the bar accompanied by live entertainment before a 4 course a la carte dinner is served in the dining car.

All drinks on board are included, with the exception of certain selected wines that have an additional cost.

On your return into Cuzco, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 8: Lima

Today you will be met at your hotel for your transfer to the airport.

Depart on a scheduled flight to Lima.

Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for your check in. You will then be taken on a half day private tour of the city.

Go round colonial downtown in Lima: get to know the Main Square, where you can find the Presidential Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace, the Metropolitan City Hall and the Cathedral housing works of art dating back to the XVII century, and Spanish Conqueror Francisco Pizarro’s grave. Visit the XVII century San Francisco church and monastery, the catacombs and a fine museum of religious art.

End up the tour at the Santo Domingo Monastery, one of the most history-filled in Lima, where lie the remains of Peruvian saints, Santa Rosa de Lima and San

Martin de Porras.

Visit the Larco Museum by night, which showcases remarkable chronological galleries providing an excellent overview on 3000 years of development of Peruvian pre-Columbian history.

You will find there the finest gold and silver collection from Ancient Peru and the famous erotic archaeological collection, one of the most visited Peruvian tourist attractions. After the visit enjoy the best of Peruvian gastronomy in the magical environment of its cozy restaurant - Cafe del Museo.
