Typical routes to get to Gonarezhou would have you arriving at Chipinda Pools the main Headquarters and entry point to the park. From here it is about a 2 hour game drive through to our private mobile tented camp site right on the banks of the Runde River in view of the Chilojo Cliffs.
Your tent here is a large walk in safari tent which we use for our safaris around Gonarezhou ( Not the same camp as you see in the pictures but very similar ) - we set these camps up for each booking so we have minimal impact on the area and we keep things as simple and practical as possible but still giving you a comfortable stay in the middle of a beautiful and prime wildlife area of Gonarezhou. Each tent has two single stretcher type beds with extra mattress and proper linen, to keep you comfortable at night. The tent also has bright solar lighting and a verandah area out the front where you can sit and relax during safari down time. Attached to the back of the tent is your bathroom area. This is a canvas surround to give you privacy and protection from the wind and wildlife.
On one side is a shower area where we have a bucket with pre- heated water to your liking and this then pumps up to the shower rose using a small 12 volt pump. The toilet is a dry toilet system which is perfect for mobile camping and has a very minimal impact on our environment as opposed to chemical based toilet systems. Its all clean and neat and wont be unfamiliar to you.

Your safari day in general would start with an early morning wake up , when the camp team bring some warm water to your tent so you can refresh yourself and get ready for the day ahead. We then have breakfast around the campfire at first light of the day. This is generally a cold breakfast but with lots of hot tea and coffee to help get you going in the morning.
We would then set off and each day has no set agenda this is based around your interests, what sounds we may have heard during the night, or areas we may want to go and explore. So sometimes we head off on foot and other days we may leave by vehicle. It is all very flexible and who knows how each day will unfold. The safari vehicles are customized Toyota Land Cruisers with bench seating so you can be very flexible on how you sit and move about during the safari experience and lots of space for any equipment that you have with you.
Late morning we would either start moving back to camp or we may set up for a picnic lunch in a nice area with a view over the river or waterhole which is a great way to make the most of your safari time during the heat of the day.
The afternoon session would really be based mostly on what we have seen during the morning or going into a new area to try and maximize our sighting potential. We would return to camp at sunset for a hot shower and cold drink around the fire before having dinner and a well earned rest.

Today we will transfer back to Chipinda Pools as a last game drive out of the park, these arrangements will all be worked out with whatever transfer arrangements we have made for your next destination.
