December 3 / Arrive Ushuaia
You will be transferred from the airport to your hotel for the night.
This evening, a Quark Expeditions representative will be available in the lobby of your hotel during your optional pre-departure briefing at 6PM. Information about embarkation will be posted in your Ushuaia hotel and discussed during the meeting.
Afterwards, dine at your leisure (dinner not included).
Accommodation: Las Hayas Hotel (or similar)



December 4 / Embarkation
Embarkation will occur in the late afternoon, usually around 4pm, after which your vessel will sail down the picturesque Beagle Channel, which transects the Tierra del Fuego archipelago in the extreme south of South America.
In the morning, your luggage will be collected from the lobby of your hotel, transferred to the ship and stored in your cabin. You and your shipmates will meet at a designated location near the pier, and board the waiting buses for transfer to the ship.
Expect an air of anticipation as you depart, the next time you see land, you’ll be in the world’s most southern continent!



December 5 & 6 / Crossing the Drake Passage
Legendary for its high winds and rolling seas, you may get lucky and have surprisingly calm seas through the Drake Passage.
Spend your time in the lounge or chatting with fellow travelers, As you develop your sea legs during the crossing, the Expeditions Team will begin their series of presentation to help prepare you for upcoming zodiac and land excursions.



December 7-10 / South Shetland Island and Antarctic Peninsula
Each day, you will take zodiac excursions from the ship to explore glaciated bays, channels and landing sites. You will have opportunity to hike the Antarctic landscape, vising a research station or observing chinstrap, Adelie and gentoo penguins.
Keep an eye out for Weddell, fur, crabeater and leopard seals as well as whales and orcas while on a zodiac. Each day will be different having been carefully crafted by the Expeditions Team.



December 11 / Disembarkation & Fly to Punta Arenas
As we approach Frei Base on King George Island, it is time to say farewell to Antarctica and our amazing adventure before boarding our flight (approx. 1 hr. 45 mins) to Punta Arenas, Chile. On arrival at the Punta Arenas airport, you will be transferred to the hotel.
Note: King George Island is located at the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula in the South Shetland Islands and is one of the most remote places on Earth. A clear sky with perfect visibility is required for safe take-off and landing. We apologize in advance for any possible delays.
Accommodation: Hotel Cabo de Hornos (or similar)



December 12 / Depart Punta Arenas
After breakfast, you are free to continue your own travels or make your way to airport for your international flight home.
