Trips4Africa - 2 Days Sossusvlei Guided Tour

Today, you will be collected from your hotel at 09h00 am,  and you will drive to Sossusvlei. The 5-hour (345 km) route from Windhoek to Sesriem follows the main road southwards to Rehoboth before turning onto the gravel. It heads in a south-westerly direction to Sesriem, gateway to the famed dunes of Sossusvlei, skirting the impressive Naukluft Mountains. 

As the road from Windhoek meanders through the mountains, you will pass through the ‘Window Bridge’, which perfectly frames the landscape, into the valley below. The hills are tawny-coloured in the dry mid-year months and vivid green after summer rainfall.

You will be accommodated at Elegant Desert  Lodge  or a similar lodge  

Today, you wake up very early in the morning, and you will go for your Sossusvlei Excursion.

Driving straight to the dune,  continue to the 2x4 car park where all 2-wheel drive vehicles have to stop. Enter the ancient Tsauchab Riverbed for the last 5km leg to Sossusvlei, with a shuttle, an ancient pan completely surrounded by sand, that is strikingly populated with dead, skeletal camelthorn trees.

Explore the area on foot and climb one of the highest dunes in the world.  

Head back to the gate and enjoy the mountain scenery on the drive back to Windhoek, the driver will then drop you off at your hotel (Own Cost).
