The main activity from Tortilis is game drives into the park which are generally extremely productive. Night drives are also possible on the way back to camp after sunset drinks on their private concession only.
Walking safaris may also be undertaken on a concession area outside the park and hosted by local Maasai guides. The walks are fun and informative and afford the well needed chance to stretch your legs! Cultural visits to local Maasai villages are also offered at a small additional cost.
Amboseli National Park covers an area of 3,200 sq. km. lying at an altitude of nearly 4,000′ at the foot of Africa’s highest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro. The mountain makes a scenic backdrop for photographing the variety of animals that are seen here, including elephant (in big numbers, especially during the main dry season from July to October), buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah, spotted hyena, giraffe, eland, Grant’s gazelle, Thomson’s gazelle, Burchell’s zebra, impala, water buck, wildebeest, warthog, etc.

Additional activities include horse riding across the plains among the wildlife, walking the canopy bridge, diving into the blue glacial pools in the Ngare Ndare Forest, helicopter excursions up Mount Kenya, or up North to explore the lakes, desert and rocky outcrops and quad bike safaris.
Sirikoi Lodge is surrounded by 68,000 acres of the pure wilderness of Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, and the location of the lodge is truly exceptional.
The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an award-winning model for community conservation. Starting out with just 15 black rhinos in 1984, Lewa’s rhino population has since risen steadily, making the Conservancy the pioneer rhino conservation success story in Kenya and East Africa. Today there are 89 black and white rhino protected on the Conservancy, with over 20 having been moved to restock previously inhabited areas as well as introduce the species to new suitable and secure habitats.
Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is a vital wildlife corridor connecting Kenya’s wild and arid north with the lush Mount Kenya ecosystem. The wildlife is abundant and includes many rare endangered species such as reticulated giraffe, black and white rhino, and the largest resident population of Grevy’s zebra in the world. Elusive leopard and wild dog sightings, and families of elephant have carved Sirikoi into their migratory routes and almost daily big herds can be seen just in front of the Sirikoi deck for hours at a time.

You have two days in this piece of paradise enjoying either twice daily game drives or full day game drives with packed lunches in search of the Wildebeest Migration.
The Masai Mara ecosystem is one of the best game viewing areas in Africa and is especially good for viewing the big cats. Elephants, buffalo, hippo, crocodiles, giraffe, zebra, lion, leopard, cheetah, spotted hyaena, impala, gazelles, eland, waterbuck, topi, jackal and serval are all common and seen regularly. Rhino are found in certain areas, and wild dogs are more transient visitors. The famous wildebeest and zebra migration is usually in residence from mid-July through to mid-October, though the movement of the animals is always somewhat unpredictable. The scenery of the Masai Mara is stunning with open grassland plains intersected by rivers, rocky ridges and pockets of riverine forest. Birdlife is varied and especially good around the riverine woodland areas.
Whilst the official Masai Mara Game Reserve can be busy with tourist vehicles in places, especially at river crossings in migration season, the Olare Motorogi Conservancy offers relative exclusivity away from the crowds. With a good mix of open plains, rocky hills and riverine thickets this area is superb for game viewing.
