Day 1: Cathedral Peak Nature Reserve

Depart from your Durban Hotel / Durban ICC and head along the N3 towards Harrismith. Just past Estcourt you will turn off the main road and travel via Winterton to the Cathedral Peak valley which is nestled in the unspoiled surroundings of the uKhahlamba Drakensberg mountain range.

Lunch will be taken en-route or on arrival depending on timings and is for your own account.

Dinner will be taken in the restaurant.

Day 2: Cathedral Peak Nature Reserve

Breakfast will be taken at the camp restaurant. This morning enjoy a guided walk to see Bushman paintings and beautiful waterfalls. Return to the chalets and freshen up before lunch for your own expense is taken at the camp restaurant.

This afternoon we visit the Didima Rock Art Centre. A visit to the San Art centre leads a visitor along the journey of discovery using the significance of the eland in San culture as a theme that threads its way through the experience. The theme of the eland is first introduced in the innovative display hall. After the introduction to the fascinating culture and lifestyle of the San, the visitor is led into a small cave like room for a time of traditional fireside story telling, before moving on to the cultural auditorium for a screening of the inspiring and provocative audiovisual presentation.

Dinner will be taken in the restaurant and is included.

Day 3: End of Itinerary

Breakfast will be taken in the restaurant after which there are several optional activities (for your own expense) which the guide will assist you to book in advance. Optional activities include options such as quad bike riding, spa treatments and helicopter sightseeing flights (these are offered by the Cathedral Peak hotel in the area).

Depart Cathedral Peak and take a leisurely drive through to Durban via the Midlands Meander route which offers a unique mixture of arts and crafts. Stop en-route for lunch which will be for your own account.

Visit the site of Nelson Mandela’s capture in 1962 near Howick. A monument has been erected at the place where he said goodbye to freedom for 27 years.

Arrive in Durban in the late afternoon.
