Day notes

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport – Nairobi, you will be welcomed airside by the dmAFRICA representative and assisted through immigration, customs and baggage formalities and transferred to the Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi. The rest of the day is at leisure.

After breakfast you are transferred to Nairobi Wilson Airport for your scheduled 1 hour 10 min flight to Samburu (Luggage allowance is strictly 15kgs per person.). Samburu derives from land descending the lush slopes of Mount Kenya into the semi-desert of the Kenyan Northern Frontier District. The bush here is composed of wild acacia scrub and open savannah, cut through by the crocodile and hippo filled Ewaso Nyiro River. As well as elephant, buffalo, cheetah, leopard and lion, Samburu contains several species that are rarely seen elsewhere; Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx and the long necked gerenuk.

You will be met on arrival and transferred to your lodge. Afternoon game activities.

You are transferred after breakfast to the airstrip for your scheduled 1 hour 30 min flight to the Mara-Keekorok Airstrip.

On arrival at the airstrip, you will be met and transferred to Cottars 1920s Camp where you will spend three nights on a full board basis.

Each day there are morning and afternoon game activities. Game viewing is excellent year round and includes sightings of elephant, Black Rhino, buffalo, wildebeest, Burchell’s zebra, hartebeest, various antelope and gazelle, lion, leopard, giraffe, hyena, cheetah, hippo, crocodile and many more species of mammals and myriad birdlife.
