Leaving Lake Manyara behind, the journey continues north west across the stunning hilly countryside of Karatu and the highlands which is filled with wheat and coffee plantations, and then into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. From here lie the vast plains of the Serengeti, where you will hopefully start spotting game well before you enter into the park. Following a late lunch, the remainder of the day will be on a game drive. When you return to camp as the sun sets, the fire will be lit and you will be able to enjoy a nice warm shower before settling down to a relaxing evening taking in the night sounds of the bush.

*During April, May, November and early December Serengeti Explorer Camp is closed. In these periods, we use Ole Serai Luxury Camp in Serengeti National Park.

Day 7: Lake Magadi

A highlight awaits you this morning as you depart by 4x4 to explore what is commonly referred to as the world’s largest natural wildlife zoo. After breakfast, you will descend through the early morning’s mist and 2,000 feet into the crater with a picnic lunch. Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and is also one of the world’s seven natural wonders. Due to its size and diversity, the crater floor is comprised of several distinct habitats, ranging from forest, swamps, lakes and springs, to open grassland and some sandy dunes. It is an awesome wildlife experience. Afternoon return to the lodge in time for dinner and overnight.
