Arrival in Cape Town, transfer to your hotel. Rest of day at leisure.

Day 2: Missing Point

A full day to Cape Point and the Cape Peninsula on a combined driving / cycling tour:

Meet your guide at the V&A Waterfront and travel by a shuttle vehicle up to Signal Hill for a bird's eye view of the Atlantic Seaboard. From here we descend slowly into Camps Bay and alongside the Twelve Apostles Mountain Range before arriving in the historic Hout Bay Harbour. We then make our way up the spectacular Chapman's Peak mountain pass for a superb lunch spread with the best views in town! We drive to the top of Chapman's Peak with stunning views. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided hike to the old lighthouse at Cape Point which stands head and shoulders above everything else. Then - a guided hike or bike ride, from Cape Point to the Cape of Good Hope which showcases the unsurpassed beauty of this hidden gem at the southern tip of Africa. We may be lucky enough to spot zebra, eland, baboons and ostriches, to mention a few of the species in the protected reserve! Return back to Cape Town along the eastern side of the peninsula visiting the African Penguin colony at Boulders Beach for a close-up view of the Jackass penguin returning to your hotel in Cape Town.


Day 3: Missing Point

After a trip briefing and introduction, travel by shuttle vehicle we shuttle guests on the 45-minute trip to Paarl in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Home to the mighty Paarl Rock, the second largest granite outcrop in the world and the Taal Monument, a tribute to the Afrikaans language, Paarl is a historic town resplendent with natural wonders and some superb wine estates.

We set off on our custom-made mountain bikes, past a number of charming cafes and quaint guesthouses with the vineyards rolling down the slopes to greet us! We make our way off the tarred road and onto Jan Phillips Mountain Drive, which leads us into the pristine Paarl Mountain and Nature Reserve, with the jagged peaks of the Paardeberg mountains glistening in the distance.

We cycle through this shaded sanctuary, making our way up towards the mighty Paarl Rock. We climb up the hill, our only real climb of the day and are rewarded with magnificent views of the valley below as we near the Taal Monument. We ease our way downhill and into a Cheese and Wine Estate where we sample their selection of cheeses and award winning wines. Continue along a tractor trail, meandering through lush vineyards with wonderful views - Table Mountain is visible on a clear day. This wonderful trail connects a couple of wine estates. We try some of their best wines while enjoying a gourmet lunch! Our cycling ends at Seidelberg Wine Estate, and you are shuttled back to Cape Town late afternoon.


Day 4: Missing Point

Make your way to the starting point for the Table Mountain hike Meet your guide at the Lower Cable Station (in front of the visitor centre) at 08.00. Please confirm starting times with us. Together with our guides, we set out on a thrilling ascent to Table Mountain's Highest Point. A spectacular guided walk up Platteklip Gorge to Maclear's Beacon, the highest point of Table Mountain. You will be rewarded with unrivalled views of the Cape Peninsula and beyond.

Once you have reached the top of Table Point, you can walk around the plateau admiring the views in all directions.

 There is also an exhilarating, optional adventure: Table Mountain Abseil - Step off the top, at 1000 metres above sea level, and rappel into pure vertical space. This is the world's original highest commercial abseil. You are surrounded by awesome views and the deep blue Atlantic Ocean at your feet. A thrilling experience of adrenaline and achievement: a 112 metre controlled descent off Cape Town's magnificent Table Mountain.

Descent from Table Mountain with the cablecar (own expense – currently ZAR 150 and subject to change) and make your own way back to the hotel.


Day 5: Missing Point

A day at leisure in Cape Town. We recommend taking an optional one-day “Hop On Hop Off” sightseeing tour, or exploring the Waterfront area on foot.

Day 6: End of Itinerary

You will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight – or continue with another Active Escape exploring other parts of South Africa.
