Day 6: Mendoza, Potrerillos

Rafting 12 Km in Mendoza River

The rafting takes place in Mendoza River in Potrerillos, which is located 60 km from the city of Mendoza, in the Mendoza Precordillera and at the foot of the Cordón del Plata.

It is not necessary to have experience to carry out the activity, since we have a guide who will instruct you to be able to handle the boat.
The operations base is located on the river bank and has lockers, a dining room, showers, two swimming pools and a solarium among other things, therefore it is an excellent place to spend a beautiful day in the mountains.

Times:  9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. approx.
Difficulty: Medium - difficult; class III and IV in summer, in winter II and III.
Route: 12 Kilometers.
Time on the river: approximately 1 hour.
Age limit: 16 - 55 years in class III and IV
Recommendations: bring a bathing suit, extra clothes and slippers, food or money to buy on the spot.

The term rafting has become popular in such a way that everyone knows that it consists of the descent of a group of amateurs down a tumultuous river aboard an inflatable boat.

The boom it has around the world is due to its spectacular nature, guaranteed fun and the possibility of enjoying it in a group. In addition, no more preparation is required than knowing how to swim, having an acceptable physical shape and, above all, a sense of humor that is proof of unexpected dips, dizziness and tumbles.

Although it can be practiced all year round, it is in the summer when the provincial rivers —Mendoza, Tunuyán, Atuel, Diamante and Grande— become ideal for descending in inflatable rafts. It is that the thaws occur from December to March, increasing water flows.

From rapids such as Quebrada del 60, El Laberinto and Come Hombres, to circuits for beginners –which do not have great difficulty, although they are equally fun–, rafting in Mendoza, with its spectacular setting of valleys and mountain canyons, offers experiences unique.

The circuits can last from a couple of hours to one or several days, including camping.

In Mendoza there are also several very usable reservoirs for windsurfing, boating, water skiing, motor boating, sailing, diving or sport fishing. They are found both in southern San Rafael, and a short distance from the capital of Mendoza (Carrizal and Potrerillos).
