On arrival at Johannesburg's International Airport, you will be met on arrival and escorted to the car rental desk to pick up your rental vehicle. Start your (approximately) 4 hour journey south to the beautiful KwaZulu-Natal province, home to the proud Zulu tribe.
Arrive at your tented safari lodge located in the scenic Nambiti Big 5 Private Game Reserve. You can look forward to an exciting African Safari Adventure, up close with diverse wildlife and magnificent nature! For those interested in a historic perspective, the area is also well known for numerous battlefields dating back to the 1800’s, when the Anglo-Zulu and Anglo-Boer wars took place.
Ensure you arrive at your lodge by 3pm in time for an interesting afternoon game drive in an open safari vehicle. Your accommodation includes full board (3 meals a day), teas and coffees with snacks, and two game drives/activities per person per day.

A normal safari lodge day starts with an early morning game drive before the heat of the day, followed by a scrumptious breakfast. Thereafter you can relax, enjoy the pool or book an optional guided bush walk. After afternoon tea you head out into the bush again for a late afternoon/early evening game drive, stopping for "sundowners" whilst watching the fiery orange sunset over the unforgettable African landscape. The Big Five are always present if you are lucky enough to spot them. On returning to the lodge, dinner will be served.
After a final early morning safari – your last chance to spot that elusive special sighting - followed by breakfast, you leave Nambiti and drive to the nearby Drakensberg area with mountains over 3.400 metres above sea level, on the top of the mountain range is the border to the Kingdom of Lesotho. Stop at some interesting battlefields en route or visit a curio shop with interesting things to buy. Your hotel is set amongst impressive mountains with scenic forests, streams, trout dams, cascading waterfalls, hiking trails, horse riding adventures and many other activities.

You have a full day to either partake in one or more of the activities on offer or to spend it at leisure where you can relax. A quiet read in one of the attractive lounges, an elegant tea on the lawn, a drink in the bar choosing a wine from the cellar to enhance your dining experience – it’s all about chilling and enjoying!
After a leisurely breakfast, take a slow drive through the scenic Midlands en route to Durban. Stop at farm stalls, nurseries, breweries, dairy farms with country cheeses and a multitude of other interesting arts and crafts stores along the Midlands Meander – also highly recommended is a visit to the Mandela Capture Site at Lion's River (only 5 km off the N3 highway). Hand back your rental car at Durban's King Shaka International Airport.
