Boasting spectacular views of a lagoon by the same name, Camp Xakanaxa rests on the banks of the Khwai River. Twelve luxury safari tents are situated on raised decks and cooled by a unique sprinkler system. An elevated, thatched guest area is positioned to overlook the Khwai River and lagoon and is made up of an open-air lounge with large comfortable couches and an elegant dining area where superb meals are served. The recent heatwave and extremely hot weather we have experienced here in Botswana is certainly contributing to noticeable evaporation.
As things stand, however, all water activities at, Xugana Island Lodge and Camp Xakanaxa are operational and offered to all guests. There has been a minimal influence on activities.
How long this will be this way is completely unpredictable as the country is in desperate need of rains – heavy local rains will supplement the current water levels and as everyone knows, the impact of strong rainfall in the Angolan catchment area is the key contributor to what the next season's water levels will be like.

Xugana Island Lodge is ideally situated on the edge of the spectacular Xugana Lagoon. This beautiful lodge offers eight elevated rooms featuring Livingston décor, romantic beds veiled by fine viridian lace, spacious ensuite bathrooms, and private viewing decks.
Guests can relax in the boma and savor sumptuous meals in the outdoor dining area, which overlooks the still lagoon. Unwind in the comfortable sitting room or splash around in the inviting swimming pool, perfect for resting weary limbs after a rewarding day of game viewing. Guests can explore the many channels and floodplains of the Okavango Delta by mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) or motorboat, as well as discover some of the surrounding islands on a guided nature walk. Avian enthusiasts will be delighted with the variety of species in the area, while keen fishermen can battle it out with bream or the formidable tiger fish.
