After clearing the entry formalities for Kenya you will be met in the arrivals hall and then transferred to the lodge where you will be able to relax and get a nice meal, cold drink and enjoy being in Africa.
This morning the transfer vehicle will collect you after a nice breakfast at the lodge. You then have an approximate 5-hour road transfer to Laikipia, where you will be able to just sit back and enjoy the changing Kenyan countryside as we make our way towards Mt Kenya before turning off into the bush to reach Laikipia Wilderness Camp in time for a late lunch. We will then have time to go and stretch our legs with an afternoon bush walk and get a feel for this very diverse safari area.
The Laikipia area is a tremendous success story of conserving wildlife and the habitat alongside traditional livestock farming so all parties benefit. This area has a tremendous diversity of habitats and a long list of mammals and birds - some of the highlights here would seeing Gerenuk, Fringe Eared Oryx, Jackson's Hartebeest, Reticulated Giraffe and Grevy's Zebra. It is also well noted as a stronghold of African Wild Dogs which at this time of year should at their den which I hope to find and show you.
We also plan to spend a night out fly camping which will be great fun as we will walk to the camp and enjoy a night out in a very basic little camp enjoying the night and all the sounds of the bush around us.
After a night out of fly camping we would enjoy another mornings walk back to camp where we can have a nice hot shower and more safari time in the afternoon around the area.
While we are here we are also able to do night drives so we can go out in search of the always elusive Aardvark!
This morning after a nice breakfast in camp we would have a game drive transfer to nearby airstrip for our flight to Amboselli. The flight will depart mid morning so we will fly right past Mt Kenya before heading into Amboselli, the flight is about an hour long so we should be in camp for lunch and ready for an afternoon game drive in the concession area.
We have a full day here to enjoy this National Park that is so famous for its wildlife viewed with Mt Kilimanjaro standing tall in the background, probably the view that most people associate with Africa. The central marsh area of the park is where much of the wildlife focus is and is created by the melt water of the glacier and snow on Kilimanjaro.
You leave Amboseli mid-morning today - so you have time for more safari time around the concession before going to the airport. You then have a 1hr flight direct to the Masai Mara. Here we have a private mobile tented camp right on the Mara River and close to some of the well-known Wildebeest Crossing points. This should be an incredible time to witness this amazing and sometimes brutal spectacle of nature.
We have 2 full days to watch the events unfold of these epic wildebeest and zebra crossings that can really happen at any time of the day and night. Being inside the National Park we will only be able to do game drives.
Today we move out of the Mara Reserve itself to the Mara North Conservancy. We will do this as a game drive transfer so we will have no time pressure the only plan is to get to our new camp for lunch so you can settle into your new home and be ready for an afternoon of game viewing.
The Mara North Conservancy has only a few camps in it so there will be a lot less pressure at sightings from other vehicles and we have more flexibility with our safari activities as we will be able to do bush walks and night drives here as well. This luxury camp in this quality wildlife area will be a great way to complete our Kenyan safari experience.
We will fly today on one of the scheduled flights from the Mara which will all be timed to suit your International Departures.
