4-day Africa on Foot Wilderness Trails

Days 1 - 3: Maseke Game Reserve, Balule Private Game Reserve

This 3 day walking trail in the big five Maseke Game Reserve is a unique way of enjoying a safari to the Greater Kruger. Each night is spent at a different location, and you don't need to lift a finger in setting up the mobile camp. Each of the 4 dome tents can sleep 2 people comfortably on individual mattresses, made up with bed linen, duvets, and pillows. Each tent has an attached bathroom, which consists of a bucket shower and chemical toilet.

The main area of camp comprises a central fire-pit area with strategically placed safari chairs, an al fresco safari dining table, and small bar area. While the chefs prep your wholesome food, all that is expected of you is to sit and relax around the boma and campfire area. Expect stellar views of the mighty river, endless wilderness vistas, and absolute bushveld serenity. The main activity is the walking safari, which takes place daily and covers a good few hours of walking per day. Evenings finish off with a sundowner and night game drive, just to ensure guests get to see nocturnal predators. Guests need to have a relatively good level of fitness for the walking safari.

Africa on Foot Wilderness Trails is located in the Maseke Balule Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger, situated between Hoedpsruit and Phalaborwa in Limpopo Province. It is an 8000 hectare private game reserve, which shares open borders with the Kruger National Park. The Olifants River courses through the reserve, while prominent mountainous ridges and boulder koppies characterise the terrain, making it an incredibly diverse and interesting region to explore on foot.
