Today you will meet your private driver guide and start out with a tour of the Genocide Museum. Afterwards, you will be driven to Nyungwe National Park arriving at Nyungwe Forest. You will arrive in the afternoon giving you some time at leisure to explore the tea plantation.
Nyungwe ( chimps trekking and canopy walk).
Departure around 5:00am from the Lodge for the chimps trekking. About 500 chimpanzees live here including a small community in the nearby Cyamudongo Forest. It is common to hear chimpanzees before seeing them. Listen for a single loud noise followed by several growing louder from deep within forest. After the trekking lunch at the lodge.
In the afternoon enjoy the canopy walk. This walkway is constructed on the Igishigishigi Trail and leaves 1 Km from Uwinka. It leads to a 200m trail, suspended between giant trees. It offers a magnificent view of the upper canopy and is also a very good bird watching area.
Dinner & Overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge.
Today, you will transfer to Volcanoes National Park (~4hrs) passing through several fishing towns of Lake Kivu.
On arrival, you will have the rest of the day at leisure.
Today, you will be met in the morning and transferred to the Park gate where you will start your Gorilla Trek. Once with the gorillas, you will have 1hr with the troop. After, return to the lodge for time at leisure.
