Welcome to Botswana!
On arrival at Maun Airport and after clearing customs and immigration, you will be met and assisted by a Wilderness representative to your light aircraft for your onward circuit air transfer to Wilderness Qorokwe. On arrival at the camp airstrip, you will be met by your guide and transferred to camp, where you will have time to settle in before afternoon / evening game-viewing activities. After your evening game drive, return to camp for dinner and overnight.
At Wilderness Qorokwe, delight in contemporary comforts in a spectacular setting, a landscape ranging from floodplains to acacia woodlands and palm-dotted islands. Its home is the exclusive Qorokwe Protected Area, 25 000 hectares dense with game and its ensuing dramas. Its nine elegant tents (including one very spacious family unit with a private plunge pool) are well shaded and catch the prevailing breeze. The whole camp, including the magnificent main area, overlooks a lagoon and its infinity pool is a focal point for the expansive views. Witness the wild’s action unfold – from stalking lions to hippos battling for territory. Marvel at the smaller creatures – from industrious dung beetles to an impressive variety of birds. On game drives or walks, find an abundance of local herbivores: elephant, giraffe, buffalo, and a range of antelope, including the rarer tsessebe. Explore the channels in a mokoro, spying painted reed frogs, waterlilies, and perhaps a surprise ‘Champagne stop’ hidden in the reeds. When the water is high enough, boat further afield. Rejoice in fireside boma nights alive with traditional song and dance, and much laughter. In addition to Wilderness Qorokwe’s commitment to a light carbon footprint, including 100% solar-generated power, this camp plays an important role in the empowerment of local communities through job creation and other income-generating opportunities. Wilderness Qorokwe promotes the recovery of an area previously used for hunting, and demonstrates the importance of ecotourism in more peripheral concessions.
Two full days to spend in this incredible area!
