Day 1: Windhoek

Day 1

Arrival in Windhoek

You’ll be picked up at the airport and driven to your first stop in the middle of the African bush. You can relax in the garden and by the pool, from where you have a beautiful view of the farmland. Depending on the time of arrival, you can book a farm tour on site (optional), and, in the evening, indulge in a delicious dinner.

Day 2: Sossusvlei

You’ll be driven to Windhoek, where you pick up your rental car and drive via Rehoboth into the Namib Desert, and the Le Mirage Lodge. As the name suggests, the lodge looks like a mirage from afar, but the closer you get, the more obvious it becomes that you’re actually staying in a fort. In the courtyard, you’ll be surprised by a lush green garden with a wonderfully refreshing swimming pool.

Day 3: Sossusvlei

Sossusvlei

Drive to Sesriem and visit the highest dunes in the world at Sossusvlei. As the sun is still quite low in the morning, the high dunes shimmer golden, yellow and reddish on one side, but are dark and shadowy on the other. This makes the dune ridge stand out razor-sharp. You can take a short hike to the photogenic Dead Vlei with its dead tree trunks, and climb the  highest dune "Big Daddy" to be rewarded with a breathtaking view at the top. On the way back you can visit the Sesriem Canyon and, back at the lodge, let the great experiences sink in once again.

Day 4: Swakopmund

To Swakopmund

Today you pass the Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons and cross the central Namib Desert. On the way you’re sure to see ostriches, but perhaps also springboks, zebras, and oryx antelopes. Via Walvis Bay you reach the coastal town of Swakopmund, where you’ll spend the night in a guesthouse overlooking the sea. The town center with its numerous cafés and restaurants is within walking distance, and you may wish to have dinner in a restaurant with an ocean view (optional).

Day 5: Swakopmund

You take a very interesting boat trip in the Walvis Bay lagoon today to see seals, dolphins, flamingos, and pelicans. In the afternoon you can enjoy the beach, visit the museum, aquarium or crystal gallery, or go quad biking in the dunes, etc. A sightseeing flight along the coast can also be booked (all optional).

Day 6: Erongo Gebirge

Erongo Mountains

You bid farewell to the sea and drive to the Erongo Mountains where you’ll find your lodge nestled between bizarre granite rock formations. Along the way, be sure to look to the north to see the majestic Spitzkoppe, also known as the Matterhorn of Namibia, which rises 600 meters above the plain.

Day 7: Etosha South

To Etosha National Park

Today you want to get to the Etosha National Park as quickly as possible. The park is one of the largest animal reserves in the world and is considered one of the most outstanding game parks in Africa. The animals are attracted by the Etosha Pan, a huge depression that is rarely filled with rainwater, but which has waterholes at its edge where flocks of birds and numerous wild animals can be found all year round. You can take your own game drives in the park and, in the evening, watch the comings and goings at the floodlit waterhole.

Day 8: Etosha East

Drive through the eastern Etosha National Park

Exciting game viewing awaits you today in the park. You have the whole day to visit the various waterholes and spot animals such as giraffe, kudu, zebra, oryx antelope, black-nosed impala, wildebeest, springbok, ostrich and, with a bit of luck, even lion and elephant. In the evening, you leave the park in an easterly direction and, just a few kilometers from the exit, reach the beautiful Mushara Lodge with its tasteful furnishings. Round off the day with a delicious dinner.

Day 9: Etosha East

You can enjoy the abundance of animals in Etosha once again and observe many wild animals quenching their thirst at the waterholes. But you can also choose to enjoy the beautiful lodge and relax before sampling the delicacies from the kitchen once again in the evening.

Day 10: Rundu

Trip to Rundu

Today you continue to the most densely populated part of Namibia, the Okavango River. On the way, you’ll see picturesque round huts inhabited by the local people of the Kavango tribe. Your accommodation today resembles a remote paradise hidden among lush vegetation on the banks of the Okavango. Here you’ll find untouched nature and the comfort of a beautiful lodge with a view of Angola on the other side of the river. You’ll get to take an unforgettable boat trip at sunset.

Day 11: Okavango River

At the Okavango

Birdsong wakes you from your sleep. It's wonderful here right on the Okavango River! You continue eastwards to the Caprivi today, from time to time seeing the kraals of the Kavango and, above all, thatch traders selling sheaves of straw along the road to build roofs for the huts. Your next lodge is built between the areas very old trees, directly on the banks of the Okavango. You are already expected for lunch, and, in the afternoon, you’ll take another sunset boat trip.

Day 12: Okavango River

Mahango National Park

You can take your own game drive in the Mahango National Park, one of the most beautiful parks in Namibia. Among the interesting wildlife you hope to see are buffalo, elephant, hippo, and perhaps even the rare scimitar-horned Sable antelope. At night it will be very quiet, and, apart from the huffing and puffing of hippos, nothing can be heard.

Day 13: Kwando River

You cross the Okavango and continue through the Bwabwata Park to your lodge, which is situated on the eastern side of the Kwando River. From the wooden deck of the lodge, you have a direct view of the river and, after lunch, you can relax a little before taking a boat trip on the Kwando in the afternoon and getting to experience "pure Africa".

Day 14: Kwando River

Bwabwata National Park

Today you go on a game drive in the Bwabwata Game Park where you’re sure to see elephants as the region around the Kwando River is considered to have the highest concentration of them in southern Africa. The landscape around the Horseshoe is also particularly interesting. In your free time in the afternoon, you may want to try your hand at fishing on the Kwando, or simply enjoy the typical African atmosphere at the lodge.

Day 15: Chobe River Front Namibia

To the Chobe River

You drive to Katima Mulilo today and return your rental car, but don't worry - all further transfers are organized. You’ll be driven to Kasane in Botswana, where a representative of Zovu Elephant Lodge will be waiting for you at the Kasane Immigration Office. After a short boat trip, you reach the lodge on an island in the Chobe River, and, in the afternoon, there is a very impressive boat cruise waiting for you, with the chance to see many elephants, crocodiles, hippos, and numerous interesting water birds.

Day 16: Chobe River Front Namibia

Chobe National Park

Today you go on a game drive in Chobe National Park where you should again see many elephants, possibly hundreds, wandering to the river to quench their thirst. The drive along the riverbank also promises numerous wildlife experiences, as there are around 80,000 elephants, numerous hippos, and thousands of buffalo in the area. The buffalo are usually only seen in the early morning or late afternoon though, when they leave the bush to quench their thirst at the river. After lunch, you can look out over the Chobe River from the lodge before taking another boat trip in the afternoon

Day 17: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Victoria Falls

After breakfast, you’ll be taken back to Kasane and then transferred to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Your lodge is in a quiet part of town, surrounded by lush green gardens, but the lively city centre is within walking distance. You will certainly want to visit the world-famous waterfalls in the afternoon, where huge masses of water cascade over a 110-metre cliff face with a width of 1708 meters. A breathtaking spectacle!
