After breakfast, it’s time to hit the road. Together with your guide, you leave Entebbe behind and head north toward Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This is the only place in Uganda where you can track white rhinos on foot — yes, walking, heart beating just a little faster with every step.
Ziwa is also the only sanctuary where the rhinos are protected around the clock, so chances are good you’ll meet these impressive giants face to face. The drive takes about two to two and a half hours, just enough time to ease into safari mode.
After lunch, the journey continues to Murchison Falls National Park. By the end of the day, you arrive at Murchison River Lodge, where the sounds of the wild replace traffic noise and your first real safari night begins.

Day notes
At 6 a.m. the alarm goes off — safari style, no snooze button. By 7 you’re already rolling through the park, eyes wide open, scanning the landscape for movement. Giraffes, antelope, maybe a lion stretching after a long night… you never quite know who will show up for breakfast.
After the morning game drive, you return to the lodge for a well-earned lunch and a short rest. At 2 p.m. it’s time for a completely different perspective: a boat safari on the Nile. For about three hours you cruise toward the base of the mighty Murchison Falls, passing hippos, buffalo, crocodiles and, if luck is on your side, elephants cooling off along the riverbanks.
Feeling fit and adventurous? You can choose to be dropped off at the bottom of the falls and hike your way up. It’s steep, slippery and absolutely worth it, with the roar of the water guiding you all the way. After the boat trip or hike, you head back to the lodge for dinner, tired in the best possible way and full of stories from the day.

Day notes
Today is all about the game drive — no rushing, no switching plans, just a full day immersed in Murchison Falls National Park. This is Uganda’s largest national park, stretching all the way to the shores of Lake Albert, and it has plenty of space for wildlife to do its thing uninterrupted.
The Nile cuts straight through the park, eventually squeezing itself through a narrow gorge to form the thunderous Murchison Falls — impossible to ignore and very much the star of the show. As you explore the park, the scenery keeps changing: open savannah rolls into dense forest, then suddenly opens up again, as if the landscape enjoys surprising you.
Along the famous Buligi Circuit, game viewing is at its best. You might spot elephants and buffalo near the river, Rothschild giraffes strolling through the savannah like they own the place, and lions lounging in the shade, pretending not to care who’s watching. In the forests, primates move through the trees — including chimpanzees — while hippos and crocodiles claim the riverbanks.
It’s a day of slow driving, sharp eyes, and constant “did you see that?” moments. By the end of the day, you’ll have a camera full of photos and the satisfying feeling that you’ve truly explored one of Uganda’s wild heartlands
Day notes
After a relaxed, late breakfast, you set off at an easy pace, following the shores of Lake Albert. The road hugs the water, and the scenery does most of the talking — wide views, shimmering lake reflections, and villages quietly passing by as you drive. It’s the kind of journey where you’re glad there’s no rush, because you’ll want to keep looking out the window.
By the time you arrive at the lodge, the day slows down even more. The afternoon is yours to spend exactly as you like: unwind, take in the surroundings, or simply do nothing at all — which, after a few adventurous days, feels pretty perfect.

Today the journey continues towards Kibale National Park. From Hoima it’s a drive of about 2 to 3 hours — not a long one, but definitely one you’ll want to enjoy. The scenery slowly changes along the way: rolling hills turn greener by the kilometre, mountains rise in the distance, and before you know it you’re surrounded by the endless tea plantations of Fort Portal. It’s one of those drives where you keep thinking: “Wait… can it get any greener than this?”

Day notes
Time to go in search of the chimpanzees in Kibale National Park. You start at the rangers’ post, where a short briefing sets the tone for the adventure ahead. Then it’s straight into the rainforest. The walk can be demanding at times, so good shoes are a must and a poncho is never a bad idea.
Along the way, it’s all about listening — snapping branches, distant calls, sudden movement in the trees. The rangers know exactly what to listen for, so chances are very good you’ll come face to face with the chimps.
After the trek, it’s time to unwind in the garden of the lodge. And if you still have some energy left, you can take a walk to “Top of the World,” where wide views and crater lakes offer a well-earned reward.
Expert tips:
When going for Chimp trekking keep in mind there are some rules to abide to:
Abide by the Ranger’s instructions and input at the orientation and during the Trek.
Keep a Distance of at least 8 meters between you and the chimpanzees
No Provoking of our closest cousins.
No consuming of food or drinks, no smoking in the presence of the primates.
Visitors with flues, colds, diarrhea or other illnesses cannot trek Chimpanzees.
No Flash Photography since that will startle Chimpanzees.
Included:
Chimpanzee trekking
Bigodi swamp walk

Today the safari continues as you travel on to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive already feels like part of the adventure, with the landscape slowly opening up and wildlife never far away.
After lunch, it’s time to head onto the water for a boat ride along the Kazinga Channel. For about three hours, you drift between two lakes while life unfolds along the shores. Expect plenty of hippos, crocodiles, buffalo and water birds — and if you’re lucky, even a few elephants stopping by for a drink. A front-row seat to nature, no binoculars required.

Today starts early as you head out for a game drive in the Kasenyi plains. This is the area where your chances of spotting lions are at their best — though they’re certainly not the only ones awake at this hour. Keep your eyes open for plenty of other wildlife moving through the savannah.
During the drive, you’ll also visit one of the craters with a salt lake, adding a completely different landscape to the morning. A perfect mix of wildlife, wide views and a few “wow, this place is unreal” moments before the day really begins.
Excluded:
An optional activity is the Lion tracking experience @ 110 usd per person
Day notes
In the morning, it’s time for a game drive with a twist — you’ll be on the lookout for the famous tree-climbing lions of Ishasha. Keep your eyes on the branches and the horizon, because these lions are anything but ordinary, and spotting one is a story you’ll be telling for years.

Day notes
Today is gorilla day — the moment you’ve been waiting for. After breakfast, head to the rangers’ post for a quick briefing, your “mission prep” before stepping into the mountains.
Then the trek begins, winding through the lush, hilly terrain in search of the mountain gorillas. Depending on where the family is, the walk can take a few hours, so sturdy walking shoes are essential — but every step is worth it for the chance to meet these gentle giants in their natural home.
After this unforgettable experience, return to the lodge to relax, relive the moments, and pore over your photos, remembering the incredible encounter long after the day ends.
Expert tips:
When you are with the gorillas:
- A 7 meter (21 feet) distance should tried to be observed at all times from the gorillas. The further back you are, the more relaxed the group will be.
- You must stay in tight group whey you are near the gorillas.
- Keep your voices down at all times. However, it is okay to ask the guide questions.
- Do not smoke, drink or eat when you are near the gorillas. Eating or drinking inevitably will increase the risk of food/drink morsels/droplets falling, which could increase the risk of transmission of diseases.
- Sometimes the gorillas charge. Follow the guides example (crouch down slowly, do not look the gorillas directly in the eyes and wait for the animals to pass). Do not attempt to run away because that will increase the risk.
- Flash photography is not permitted! When taking pictures move slowly and carefully.
- Do not touch the gorillas. They are wild animals.
- The maximum time you can spend with the gorillas is one hour. However, if the gorillas become agitated or nervous, the guide will finish the visit early.
- After the visit keep your voices down until you are 200 meters away from the gorillas.
General health rules:
Remember that mountain gorillas are very susceptible to human diseases. The following rules are ways to minimize the risk your visit might poses to them:
- Respect the limits imposed on the number of visitors allowed with the gorillas each day. This minimizes the risk of disease transmission and stress to the group.
- If you are feeling ill, or you are carrying a contagious disease, volunteer to stay behind. An alternate visit will be arranged for you, or you will be refunded your money.
- If you feel the urge to cough or sneeze when you are near the gorillas, please turn your head away and cover your nose and mouth in order to minimize the spread of bacteria or viruses.
- Always stay 7 meters (21 feet) away from the gorillas. This is to protect them from catching human diseases.
- Do not leave any rubbish (eg. food wrappers) in the park; foreign items can harbor diseases or other contaminants.
- If you need to go to the toilet while in the forest, please ask the guide to dig you a hole with his panga. Make sure the hole is 30 cm deep and fill it in when you are finished.
What to bring on your Gorilla Safari:
- Wear comfortable hiking shoes suitable for steep muddy slopes.
- Carry a packed lunch and enough drinking water.
- Carry rain gear, sunscreen lotion, a hat (as the weather is unpredictable) and insect repellent.
Day notes
Lake Bunyonyi lies about three hours away and is one of the highest lakes in East Africa. The altitude means the air is cooler than other parts of Uganda, so pack a cozy sweater for the evenings.
During the day, there’s plenty to do: take a refreshing swim, paddle a canoe across the calm waters, or, if you’re curious about local culture, plan a visit to meet the Batwa Pygmies and hear their stories of life in the forest.

Day notes
Today you visit the floating market at Lake Bunyonyi, a truly magical spot in southern Uganda. Known as the “place of little birds”, this lake is said to be the second deepest in Africa and is dotted with misty islands, each with its own story. The surrounding hills rise in verdant, terraced waves, making it one of the most scenic spots you’ll see in the country.
Unlike many lakes in East Africa, Lake Bunyonyi is free of crocodiles, hippos, and bilharzia, so you can swim safely in its crystal-clear waters. During the day there’s plenty to do — swim, canoe, hike, or go bird watching. For those interested in culture, a visit to the Batwa Pygmies is also possible.
In the afternoon, hop into a traditional dugout canoe for a serene paddle across the lake. Glide past the 29 islands, each with its own history — including Akampene Island, once used for exile. As you drift along, keep your eyes peeled for the variety of water birds and soak in the calm, green scenery. A canoe ride here can last a couple of hours or even a full day if you want to explore more, and it’s the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Don’t forget sunscreen, insect repellent, water, and maybe a packed lunch — though the view alone might just be all the nourishment you need.
Day notes
Today you head to Lake Mburo National Park, a compact but wildlife-packed gem. The park is famous for its large herds of zebras, whose stripes seem to dance across the savannah, and lately, groups of giraffes have been spotted gracefully wandering the plains.
After a day of wildlife spotting and soaking in the park’s charm, you’ll arrive at Rwakobo Rock Lodge — a perfect place to unwind, watch the sunset over the rolling hills, and relive the day’s adventures.
