You leave River Crossing after breakfast and head back into Windhoek before turning south on the main tar road to Mariental where you will turn off onto the gravel roads and out into the desert. Here the scrub turns to the red linear sand dunes that are so typical of the Kalahari.
Your destination is Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch, one of the oldest lodges in Namibia which was once a working farm.
The chalets are spread out amongst the red dunes and the main farmhouse has a restaurant, an open bar, an observatory and a swimming pool.
This afternoon/evening you will enjoy your first activity with an open air drive into the reserve in search of the wildlife that has made the Kalahari its home followed by a sundowner on top of a dune overlooking the waving grasses of the veld.
Sundowner Nature Drive
An early start for you today with a morning drive out into the reserve in search of some of Namibia's desert dwellers such as meerkat, honey badgers, bat-eared foxes, serval, caracal and aardvark along with many of the more usual antelope species in a spectacular setting.
After breakfast back at the ranch you will have time to relax before you enjoy spending time with the cheetahs that live at Bagatelle followed by a second opportunity to enjoy either a sundowner drive or a night drive in search of the nocturnal animals that live amongst the dunes

One last opportunity to go out into the Kalahari this morning on a nature drive before returning to the lodge for a hearty breakfast.
We will then leave Bagatelle and head north once more back to the capital for your final evening in Namibia staying at the lovely Hotel Thule
