7-Day Cape Town - Suggested Itinerary

Day 1: Cape Town

Jet into Cape Town International Airport where you will be met and transferred with your English speaking guide directly to your hotel in the V&A Waterfront (2 pm check in).

Welcome drink on arrival and check in.

Time to relax and freshen up after your long journey.

DINNER: Suggested welcome dinner this evening at a local Waterfront restaurant, Belthazar - the menu is inspired by the flavours of Europe and features a wide variety of authentic, local cuisine alongside an outstanding wine menu.

Day 2: Cape Town

Breakfast at your hotel and depart for Table Mountain – ascend via a five-minute cable car trip to the top, 1 089 meters above Cape Town, and explore the summit (exclusive cable car use also available for groups).

Table Mountain is proud to be one of the official New7Wonders of Nature. There are magnificent views from its distinctively flat-topped summit. Abseil off the worlds’ highest natural commercial abseils – step off the top, at 1000 meters above sea level and abseil into pure vertical space. You are surrounded by awesome views and the deep blue Atlantic at your feet. Alternatively explore at your leisure on marked paths and trails.

LUNCH: Descend into the bustling streets and brightly coloured houses of the Bo-Kaap, located above the city, for a delicious local lunch - tuck into a Cape Malay selection of samosas and sweet treats like koeksisters and milk tart and visit to Atlas Spice Trading to shop for spices to take home.

This afternoon on your interactive inner city walking tour, visit Slave lodges, find wells that have watered generations of sailors and fruit trees that have staved of scurvy. Find the story behind statues and stolen marble pillars. Witness how the Rainbow nation was born….stroll the vibey streets and meet local inner city buskers, making their living entertaining passers by.

DINNER: at a local beach restaurant, The Grand at The Beach or similar

Day 3: Cape Town

Breakfast at your hotel and depart for your full day Cape Peninsula excursion.

Start the day with a breath taking Heli flip over the Cape Peninsula, landing close to Cape Point, at Millers Point, for your Power Boating activity.

Alternative: Transfer by road on Harley Davidson motorcycles

Round the Cape of Storms in a powerboat for a truly unique way to appreciate the stunning views and rugged, dramatic beauty of Cape Point. The group will hear stories of shipwrecks, sea life and ghost ships, all of which have made this peninsula notoriously famous.

Power boating: Approximately 1 hour 15 min including briefing (10 Pax per boat)

LUNCH: Disembark from your boats on the beach at Cape Point (weather permitting), for some sparkling wine, followed by a sumptuous seafood lunch at Two Oceans Restaurant at Cape Point.

This afternoon travel to Boulders Beach and a close up walking experience amongst the resident penguins.

Scenic transfer back to your hotel in the later afternoon via the Naval town of Simonstown and brightly coloured bathing beach houses at Muizenberg.

DINNER: at a local restaurant in Camps Bay, Blues or Bungalow.

Cape Point Power Boat Excursion

Day 4: Cape Town

Breakfast at your Hotel and departure for your full day Cape Winelands excursion.

A day in the Winelands is all about relaxing! Linking wine farms together with a slow meandering cycle along flat farm roads, we will explore the Franschhoek Valley in a unique and memorable fashion.

The Cycling route is short and easy enough for anyone to complete with more challenging routes available for fitter cyclists. After admiring the architecture as we cycle through the back roads of this quaint village we will make our way through the vineyards to stop for a wine tasting alongside bubbling streams.

LUNCH: Continue along country lanes past horses and cattle, old and modern wine farms- where we stop for another tasting- before ending with a gourmet lunch and wine pairing. This is a great way to experience the true way of life of this historic region.

For the less active, a guided visit to The Franschhoek Motor Museum – a special opportunity to look back at more than 100 years of motoring history with its unique and exciting collection of vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles and memorabilia in the magnificent setting of L’Ormarins Wine Estate.

Late afternoon return to your hotel.

Day 5: Cape Town

Welcome to a Big-5 experience. Aquila offers you a unique opportunity to see lions, rhino, buffalo, elephants and leopard up close. Additional wildlife and flora is available to view on our once-in-a-lifetime game drives. Aquila Safari Lodge is a 4 star establishment in the Southern Karoo. The reserve is a 10,000 hectare conservancy in the southern Karoo, and home to the big 5. All safaris are in an open 4 x 4 safari vehicle.

06h45: Depart Cape Town to Aquila by road

09h00: Welcome drink served on arrival

09h15: Buffet Breakfast

10h15: Game drive and visit to ARC (Animal Rescue Centre)

12h45: Buffet lunch / After lunch guests are able to relax at the pool and are welcome to browse our African curio shop

15h30: Depart Aquila and return to Cape Town

17h30: Approx. arrival in Cape Town

Day 6: Cape Town

Experience this bustling community with Juma, a locally trained artist who lives and works in Khayelitsha.

Meet locals going about their daily life and help plant a sustainable garden or paint a mural to uplift the area– these activities will be in smaller groups of 15.

Garden Planting: Help the local community become more self-sufficient by planting a sustainable garden at one of the local residents homes. Seedlings are sourced from “Abalimi Bezekhaya”, which focuses on skills and training to help people become self-sufficient in food production and micro growing.

Mural painting: Get creative and brighten a township building with your paintbrush by painting an inspired mural to uplift the local community. Street art in South Africa is inspiring social change and urban regeneration.

DINNER: Farewell dinner at Gold restaurant

Day 7: End of Itinerary

Breakfast at your Hotel.

Morning at leisure for some free time at the hotel or perhaps some last minute shopping (schedule may be changed depending on flight departure time).

Afternoon transfer to the Airport. Giltedge DMC to assist with all check-in formalities.
