Day 1: Lima

Day 2: Lima

Begin your tour riding through the charming hidden streets in the heart of Miraflores, before heading to the impressive pre-inca ruins, located in the middle of the city, of Huaca Pucllana. Continue to the Olivar of San Isidro, highlighted by its magnificent olives dating from virreynal times. Return to Miraflores and stop on the way to replenish your energies enjoying a typical snack in a traditional location. Finish the course riding by the sea and passing by cliffs, parks and going by modern shopping malls, sculptures, and the old lighthouse.

Day 3: Cusco

Private transfer to Lima Airport to check in for your flight with LATAM.

Day 4: Cusco

Private half day city tour including nearby Inca sites
Known as the Temple of the Sun, your first stop today is to Koricancha where the Sun was worshipped during Inca times. Continue on your tour as you visit one of the most splendid Spanish colonial churches in the Americas; Cusco Cathedral. Located on the main square, it houses about 400 colonial painting from the Cusco art school, impressive gold, silver and precious stone works. You will then head to the Sacsayhuamán fortress, an emblematic work of the Incas, which protected the Holy City. Sacsayhuamán was built with megalithic blocks, which transportation and construction continue to be a mystery.

Day 5: Cusco

Day at leisure. Numerous activities can be arranged locally.

Day 6: Machu Picchu Pueblo

Shared transfer from your hotel to the station.
Your tour to Machu Picchu begins with a train ride to Aguas Calientes.

The Expedition is a service designed for optimum traveller comfort, with four leather passenger seats located in front of each other, so guests can share their experiences. The train has panoramic windows, air conditioning and heating, luggage racks above the seats and Andean music that creates a cheerful atmosphere. A snack is even included for the journey. On arrival in Aguas Calientes, you will be met and taken to meet a shared bus transfer up to Machu Picchu citadel. Aguas Calientes is also known as ‘Machu Picchu Pueblo’ and is the last stop before entering the remains of the most important archaeological site in Peru. In Aguas Calientes, you will find the train station, a craft market, restaurants and hotels.

Upon arrival at the site enjoy a three hour guided tour of this magnificent and mysterious Inca citadel. Your guide will explain the three different route options for your tour and together with your group (max 12 people) you will decide which route to take. There is no need to pre-book a particular route. During your tour the guide will explain everything currently known about the site and the history of the Incas.

Day 7: The Sacred Valley of the Incas

Morning at leisure, an optional activity is available.

Once you are ready make your way to train station to meet your train to Cusco.

Day 8: The Sacred Valley of the Incas

The Vía Ferrata is located at 300 metres above the Sacred River of the Incas and boasts truly impressive views. Climbing the vertical rock walls surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Sacred Valley is an unrivalled sensation. Previous experience is not required to enjoy this adventure, since the safety rope system is permanently installed all along the route. Once the ascent has been completed there will be time to enjoy an energizing snack at the top of the wall. You will then rappel down the 100m descent. You will be transferred back to your hotel at the end of the tour.

Day 9: The Sacred Valley of the Incas

You will be transferred to the banks of Lake Piuray located in the beautiful Sacred Valley. The activity begins with a general briefing before you put your wetsuit on and then receive another more specific briefing about the technique, how to paddle, how to stand, turn around, etc. Before entering the water you will warm up to avoid cramping. Depending on the level of the group you will paddle for between 1 to 1.5 hours, where you will learn to use the paddle board. During the activity you will also have time to relax, swim and sunbathe
before returning to base. Once ashore, you will have time to change before being taken back to your hotel.

Day 10: Tambopata National Reserve

Private transfer to Cusco Airport to check in for your flight with LATAM (approx. 2 hours).

On arrival in to Puerto Maldonado, you will be greeted by one or more of your guides and taken to a vehicle. You will take short ride to the operations office in Puerto Maldonado where you will be asked to store excess luggage. You can pack separate bags and safely leave them at the offices until the day you leave. From here your guides will drive to the port to board motorised canoes and head upstream to your Amazon lodge. The three-hour boat ride is pleasant and often includes our first sightings of macaws, heron, caiman and capybara.

Day 11: Tambopata National Reserve

Early this morning you will depart for the onward four-hour boat ride to Tambopata Research Centre.

Upon arrival, settle in to the lodge and receive a welcome brief from the lodge’s staff before setting out on an afternoon activity. During your stay, you can choose your activities from those offered through the lodge, all of which will be assisted by local, English-speaking biologists, tourism professionals or community members. Activities are scheduled four times a day, pre-morning, morning, afternoon and night. Check the exact times with your guide when planning your daily activities. An example of some of the jungle tours are outlined on the following page.

Day 12: Tambopata National Reserve

A variety of Jungle tours are operated from the Centre that can be arranged such as:  an early morning excursion to the Macaw Clay Lick,  a Floodplain trail trek and the Condenado Oxbow Lake excursion.

Day 13: Overnight Travel

After breakfast, you will depart the lodge early in a boat transfer to Tambopata River Port. On arrival you willmeet a transfer to Puerto Maldonado where you will collect any left luggage before continuing to the airport.

After arriving into Lima, collect your bags and check in for your flight with British Airways.

Day 14: End of Itinerary

Arrive into London.
