Gonarezhou Special Offer - 2021

After clearing the entry formalities for Zimbabwe you will be met in the arrivals hall and then transferred by mini bus through to Malcolm Lodge in the leafy quiet suburbs on the Northern side of Harare. After checking in you can relax by the pool and enjoy the beautiful gardens while you catch your breath after your long journey here. It is possible to have dinner arranged here as well with a little notice.

After an early breakfast the transfer mini bus will come and collect you from the Lodge for the transfer through to Chipinda Pools - after clearing the city limits of Harare you will drive through some beautiful countryside that is always changing with small traditional and more contemporary towns and villages.

You will have a packed lunch and water with you in the bus so you can take a break along the way to stretch your legs before continuing on. The road journey will take approximately 6 hours.

Doug will meet you at the edge of the park and here you change over into an open safari vehicle and your game viewing in Gonarezhou begins with a drive through the Malalangwe Conservancy before getting into the park.  We should arrive in camp later in the afternoon. Relax with a cold drink and enjoy watching the animals come to drink at the dam in front of camp.

We have 2 full days to enjoy this area of Gonarezhou and we can roam where we like taking each day as it comes. Your mornings will start in the dark with an early wake up call and then breakfast around the campfire watching and listening to the bush come alive with bird calls and the hippos grunts. 

We then set off for the morning picking a route that suits and we can explore along the way either on foot or in the safari vehicle.

We return to camp for lunch or we may stay out with a packed lunch. Based on what we saw in the morning we would then decide on best plans for the afternoon session and returning to camp at last light. Hot showers then a great meal around the campfire. 

Today we head further down the Runde River for our 2 nights out fly camping - this will be participatory in that we will ask you to maybe help with some bedding or hold a tent peg.  Most of it will be done for you but some help will be welcome.

The camp will be basic but comfortable and safe for you - there is a clean bush loo there - but not attached to your tents.  A bucket shower system will also be set up for a nice hot shower. Meals will be al fresco around the campfire - a really genuine and fun safari experience for our nights next to the Runde River. 

Today we spend our day making our way back up the Runde River going via the Chilojo Cliffs to see them from a very different perspective  and whole new environment. We will have a packed lunch and end the day at Chipinda Pools on the banks of the Runde River. The view is beautiful and there are always a few hippo and old elephant bulls enjoying the deep pools and grass on the River -  a great place also to get wonderful pictures of Bushbuck that walk among the tents.

This is the main entry point and public campsite for Chipinda Pools so it is not as remote but still in an excellent environment.

This morning we will  have the time for your air transfer out so we may have a bush walk or game drive  before we go to the airstrip or you may choose to lie in and just relax before your transfer.

The flight is planned to return to Harare but we can easily redesign the trip to fit with other safari destinations in the region. Let us know what you are thinking and we can work it all out for you.

Depending on your flight timings a charter flight will take you from Chilo back to Harare - Please arrange any onward flights for the afternoon and not early morning.

It is also possible to stay longer at Chilo if you like or we can design a continuation off the safari to see other parts of Zimbabwe and the region. Let us know your ideas and we can work it out for you.
