Welcome to Africa! As you arrive in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, you will be met by a representative and escorted to your connecting flight Ruaha National Park, departing at 8:30am. On arrival at the Ruaha airstrip at 11:00am, you will be your guide and transferred by road to Kigelia Ruaha Camp for your first three nights in Africa!
Kigelia Ruaha is a beautifully rustic tented bushcamp, ensconced by baobabs and African Sausage Trees. A truly intimate experience, this camp allows uninterrupted enjoyment of nature with only six available guest tents, all furnished with locally crafted pale wood furniture. Plan to arrive at your camp in time for lunch, after which you will head out on your first game drive – soaking in the Return to camp just prior to sunset and enjoy a cocktail around the campfire while you swap stories with other travelers about their day. Settle down to dinner served in the dining tent or under the stars. Your first night should be magical as you lie in bed and listen to the sounds of the wilderness while in the safety of your safari tent.
Enjoy two full days in the wildlife-rich Ruaha National Park. Wake early around 5:30am for a quick tea/coffee and sconces then it’s off on a game drive or perhaps a walking safari. Return to camp for a full English breakfast and a few hours of relaxation or other safari activities. Around 1:30pm meet for lunch, after which you can take in the scenery or go for a bush walk with an experienced tracker to discover the smaller things. Stand beneath the towering baobab trees, feeling the smooth warm texture of its mighty trunk beneath your fingers, or choose to relax and enjoy a few hours in the comfort of camp. Meet again around 3:30pm for tea/coffee and cakes and then embark on your afternoon game drive. Your guide will find a place to enjoy sundowners before you arrive back at camp for dinner and drinks around the fire pit.

Today, enjoy a last breakfast in Ruaha before being transferred to the local airstrip for your light aircraft flight to the Selous. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to the Sand Rivers Selous Lodge for four nights. You will arrive in time for a scrumptious lunch and orientation around the camp. Head out on an afternoon game drive today, marveling at the beauty of the winding waterways and sprawling tree-shrouded savanna. Arrive back at camp in time for dinner and a night relishing the sounds of the bush with your travel companions.
More early mornings here to take in the fresh air on your morning game drives. Africa’s largest game reserve, the Selous receives relatively few visitors, making it a perfect location for undisturbed game viewing. Thousands of miles in size, Selous National Park is home to the winding Rufiji River, glassy lagoons, sprawling tree-studded grasslands, and plenty of wildlife. In between game drives, you may choose to explore the area on foot through a guided bush walk, or to take in the beauty of the waterways by boat.
For the more adventurous, you can choose to spend a night fly camping and sleeping under the stars (additional cost).

Bid farewell to the bush! Today you will be transferred to the local airstrip for your light aircraft flight from the Selous – departing at 9:45am – to Dar es Salaam, arriving at 10:20am. On arrival, continue on to the international terminal to connect with your international flight home. If your flight does not depart until the evening, a day-use room in Dar es Salaam can be arranged at additional cost.
