The Quiver Tree Forest is worth a visit and can also be found at Farm Garas, 20 km north of Keetmanshoop on the B1 or at Farm Gariganus, 20 km north-east of Keetmanshoop on the C17.  The Garas (means Quivertree in the Nama/Damara language), the visitor can find a special Quivertree park, where hundreds of Quiver trees (Aloe Dichotoma) grow on and between granite rocks.  The manager of the rest camp is also an artist and one can find several sculptures made from all sorts of materials along the road.

The Quiver Tree is the symbol of the south.  In earlier times the San used the branches to make quivers for their arrows  - hence the name.  Around Keetmanshoop there are several forests of this type of aloe.  The quiver tree is an aloe (Aloe Dichotoma) and in the first 20 years of its development it does not grow much bigger as the normal aloe.  Then the aloe starts gaining height, forms a stem and branches.  The branches continously split to form two shoots thus the crutches always have two branches.  Hence the latin name „Dichotoma“.  The aloes characteristic yellow flowers occur for first time after 20 to 30 years.  The maximum lifespan of the Quiver Tree is 300 years .
