South Western Cape | Garden Route Highlights

Day notes

Begin your journey at your place at choice in Cape Town in the morning. Leave Cape Town at 08h00 and drive out through the Winelands of the Cape & majestic passes. We head straight to Garden Route Game Lodge, arriving in time for lunch and check in.

The afternoon is spent enjoying a game drive safari (Big 5, giraffe, cheetah, antelope species). Return to the lodge in the evening with a great dinner and relax around the fire at night.

Day notes

The following day, we enter the Garden Route, traveling a short distance to the pleasure town of Knysna, set along an estuary, and fringed by forest-covered mountains, right on the coast. Full of fantastic optional activities, great dining, shopping, and a lively atmosphere.

Enjoy a morning game drive on the reserve spotting animals. Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast, before heading off into the Garden Route
We stop at Knysna and settle into our accommodation. Spend some time walking around the town before we enjoy a local meal (own expense). Optional activities in the afternoon (forest trips, cycling tours, Knysna Heads tour...)
Enjoy a dinner at a local restaurant (own expense)

Day notes

We head further along the Garden Route, stopping for the morning in Plettenberg Bay, another fantastic seaside town. We take lunch before we move off, crossing deep river valleys and over the world's highest Bungy jumping bridge. We settle in to the Tsitsikamma National Park, set right on the shore overlooking a pristine stretch of coastline.

Enjoy a hearty breakfast in the morning at your lodge, before we drive out to Plettenberg Bay, spending the morning on the sandy beaches
Enjoy lunch én route (for own expense) to our night stop. We drive a short distance to Tsitsikamma National Park. Arrive and check in. Spend the afternoon walking along this rugged stretch of coastline
Enjoy a braai (barbecue) right on the shore for dinner

Day notes

through the mountains and into the Little Karoo, a land of wines, ostriches, caves, and some of the best passes in the country.

Enjoy an early breakfast, in preparation for a long day's drive. We leave fairly early, taking the scenic route over to Oudtshoorn. Visit the Cango Caves, taking lunch én route (own expense).
We continue along Route 62, stopping regularly at scenic or interesting sites. Afternoon drive back to Cape Town.
