Day 1: Tsavo West National Park

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by an Albatros Travel Representative and your driver guide. After a short safari briefing, you will head straight out on safari heading south towards Tsavo West National Park arriving at the Kilaguni Serena Lodge in time for a late lunch. As the heat of the day subsides, you can venture out to the rocky park in search of Tsavo’s famous inhabitants. Tsavo West National Park covers 7,065 square miles, famous for its “man-eating” lions and the Nairobi to Mombasa railway track. The park lies to the west of the Chyulu Hills which is said to be the youngest mountain in the world and only a few hundred years old. With dramatic scenery and world renowned attractions Tsavo West is a Mecca for game viewing, with all the plains game and all of Africa cats located inside. Take a visit to Mazima Springs in the north of the park and enjoy an ‘underwater’ view of the fish, hippos and crocodiles in these crystal clear pools. At a time that is convenient to you, return back to the lodge for dinner and a chance to share the days’ highlights.

Day 2: Tsavo West National Park

Spend the day game viewing with morning and afternoon game viewing drives.  We suggest an early wake-up call so you can head out on a game drive to catch the animals as they wake up to start the day. The early morning is also when the animals are at their most active before the heat of the day sets in. Back at the lodge; breakfast is served with a wonderful view of Mount Kilimanjaro. After lunch, we suggest that you visit the Mzima Springs before returning to the lodge for dinner and your final evening in Kilaguni.

Kilimanjaro (19,340ft). The mountain dominates every aspect of the park and you can get the best views of its snow-capped peak from Amboseli. The parks fragile ecosystem supports a variety of game and is famous for its large herds of elephant. Swamps and springs, fed by underground rivers from Kilimanjaro’s melting snow, offer a watering place for the wildlife and birds during the dry season.  There is plenty to do, including game viewing, walking, visit a Maasai village or visit the Amboseli Research Centre, the longest study of wild elephants in the world. At a time that is convenient to you, return back to the lodge for dinner and a chance to share the days’ highlights.
