Cape Town

Day notes

Your guide will collect you from your hotel and begin your day along the Atlantic seaboard passing Sea Point, Bantry Bay and Clifton. From here you navigate the 114 curves of 600m high Chapman's Peak Drive on the way Cape Point and to explore the Cape of Good Hope section of the Table Mountain National Park, home to fabulous birds and very special fauna, such as Cape mountain zebra, bontebok and the charismatic Cape baboon. Climb (or ride the world's first environmentally friendly funicular) to the famous Cape Point Lighthouse to capture the magical vistas of False Bay and the two oceans - Indian and Atlantic.

After lunch, you visit Boulders Bay to see the penguins, and then head home through the naval village of Simonstown and over scenic Boyes Drive, taking in the views of the fishing harbour at Kalk Bay and the seaside havens of St James and Muizenberg.

Day 3

Cape Town

Day notes

Your guide will collect you this afternoon and depart the city for Table Mountain's Lower Cableway Station. You will explore the mountain's summit and absorb the breath-taking views before descending.

You then return to the city via the old Cape Malay Quarter, for a walk through the Company Gardens, a fresh produce garden for ships and locals from the mid-17th century, and now home to the South Africa Museum, Houses of Parliament, National Gallery and St George's Cathedral. You stroll through the city to Greenmarket Square, where you can browse the bustling market stalls for beautiful and unique African mementoes.

From here, you drive to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront to board a traditionally designed 58ft gaff-rigged schooner, easily identified in the bay by her rusty brown sails. Your sunset sail around Table Bay affords fabulous views of the city lights and surrounding scenery, while enjoying sparkling wines and soft drinks. A fabulous afternoon!

Included:

Private half day tour

Table Mountain cable way tickets

Small group sunset cruise with sparkling wine

Day 4

Cape Town

Day notes

Your guide will collect you this morning and depart the city for the Winelands in the nearby Boland Mountains for a leisurely exploration of historic towns, liquid delights, gastronomic wonders and home-grown hospitality.

Wine estates visited will vary according to your preferences, but the tour generally includes the region's major wine producing areas of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek, and there are chances aplenty en route for tastings of world-renowned reds and whites, as well as Cap Classiques - South Africa's answer to "Champagne".

Lunch at one of the many classic, award-winning restaurants in the area.

Natural and historic heritage abounds in this area and your tour may take in sights like the Afrikaans Language Monument with its panoramic Boland views. Idyllic Franschhoek, nestled in a valley settled by French Huguenots in 1688, is a delight for both antique lovers and gastronomes alike. Stellenbosch, South Africa's second-oldest town, provides another glimpse of classic 17th-century Cape style, with a chance to browse quaint Dorp Street and the many museums, galleries and shops of this lovely university town. A truly fabulous Cape experience!

Fully inclusive of transport, water, wine tastings and lunch.

Included:

Private full day tour

Day 5 - 8

Tswalu

Day notes

After breakfast you take a Luxury transfer to the Execujet Hanger at Cape Town Internation where you will board your 2 hour scheduled flight to Tswalu. Tswalu offers unrivalled privacy in a vast, pristine wilderness. We have a maximum of six vehicles in over 100,000 hectares. Game drives at Tswalu are a unique experience because guests have their own vehicles, guide and tracker. Our expert Field Guides have been specially trained in Kalahari wildlife and each contributes personally to the constant programme of research and conservation on our reserve. In addition to this, Tswalu is over 100 000 hectares in size. This means that you will not see another vehicle on your game drive. It also means that game drives can be completely tailored to the guests' interests. As well as discovering many rare and endangered species for the first time, every guest leaves with a deep appreciation of the beauty of this entire eco-system.

The Motse, nestles at the foot of the Korannaberg mountains, facing westwards across the grasslands of the Kalahari. Motse means “village” in Tswana and our village consists of just nine spacious and secluded “legae” (another Tswana word, for “little house”) or suites.

These legaes are built of local stone, rich red clay and traditional Kalahari thatch. Recently redesigned by world-renowned Boyd Ferguson, our suites define an elegant, barefoot luxury. Each suite comprises a spacious bedroom with an open fire, a sumptuous en-suite bathroom with both indoor and outdoor shower, and a large dressing and study area. Your private sun deck overlooks a waterhole and the changing Kalahari animals it attracts
