Days 1 - 2: Nairobi

Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya. The largest and most populous city in East Africa, with a current estimated population of about 4.5 million.  Nairobi started life as a railways depot in 1899. Today, the city skyline is dominated by modern high-rise buildings and is a tourism and trade hub. Nairobi is now one of the most prominent cities in Africa, politically and financially. A vibrant city with a mix of races and cultures, providing the visitor with diverse recreational and city-based experiences.

Enjoy a day of excursions in Nairobi with a  visit to the Daphne Sheldrick's Elephant Orphanage and the African Fun for Endangered Species (AFEW) Giraffe Centre for a first-hand experience of conservation in action, right in the Capital city.  This is testament to the great efforts, strides and commitment Kenya has in the protection and conservation of its wildlife and natural heritage.

Activities and Services

Days 3 - 5: Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park lies on the shadow of the most famous symbol of Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world, with its peak at 5895m above sea level. On a clear day and often in the morning, visitors are rewarded with magnificent views of its snow-capped summits.

Amboseli Park is renowned for its large elephant population, including some impressively tusked bulls drawn to a series of large, lush swamplands that attract and support a rich diversity of wild animals and birdlife. This area is home to many Maasai communities centered on the park. It has an area of 400 kms², with its southern boundary along the Tanzanian border. Here you may have the opportunity to observe herds of wildebeest, zebra and impala grazing on the open plains. There are areas of acacia forest that make for good birding and are home to many small mammals. Cheetahs are also often sighted in the park.

Facing the mountain and overlooking its own private conservancy – Kitirua Wildlife Conservancy – is Elewana Amboseli Tortilis Camp. The en-suite tents are spacious, comfortable and many offer views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Enjoy game drives in open sided vehicles, exclusive access to Kitirua Wildlife Conservancy, guided bush walks and stunning sundowners.

Days 6 - 9: Lewa Conservancy

Lewa is a private conservancy practicing cutting edge wildlife conservation, especially for rhinos. It is part of the greater Laikipia County which has used tourism to address the quadruple bottom-line of economic development, social inclusion, conservation and sustainability. Laikipia has risen to become a tourist destination of unrivaled offerings, style, innovative environmental management and strong social responsibility. Being home to the highest concentration of endangered species in the country, and with Mt. Kenya as the backdrop, Laikipia offers some of the best safari experiences, wildlife and landscapes in Kenya.

The Jaw-dropping landscapes & wilderness areas are truly outstandingly beautiful, with abundant wildlife and enthusiastic local guides who love to share their extensive knowledge.

Set on top of the hill with extensive views over the gentle rolling hills - with awesome views of Mt. Kenya, is Elewana Lewa Safari Camp. Enjoy 3 full days with unique safari activities which include day & night game drives, guided walks, pre-historic site visits, and afternoon horseback or camel treks.

Days 10 - 13: Masai Mara

Covering an area of over 1,500 square km, the Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Kenya. The reserve is located between the Great Rift Valley and Lake Victoria in primarily open grassland. Masai Mara offers an absolutely unique variety of animals, thanks to its hilly topography, humid and fertile soil, watered by perennial Mara and Talek rivers full of crocodiles and hippo. The banks of the rivers are covered in thick forest, which gradually makes way for bush and grassland. The abundance of water and excellent availability of food are the reasons why the Masai Mara, which in fact is a continuance of the Tanzanian Serengeti National Park, has the greatest population of wild animals in the whole of Africa!

There have been some 95 species of mammals, amphibians, and reptiles and over 400 bird species recorded on the reserve. Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant, and it is for this reason a visitor hardly misses seeing the big five (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and rhino).

Witness the annual spectacle of nature you’ll see only in Africa - at a scale so grand that the memories will be cherished for a lifetime - the annual migration of huge herds of gnus and zebras!  Predators such as hyenas, jackals, leopards and lions of course, closely follow these herds and herds of over 200 buffaloes can also be observed. Plenty of food is available for elephants, giraffes, and the many species of antelopes.

Immersed in the wild, is the widely, well  regarded Elewana Sand River Tented Camp.

Located on the banks of a river from which it has taken its name, Sand River Masai Mara is located within the National Reserve, close to the Tanzanian border. Situated on a secluded and picturesque site, Sand River Masai Mara replicates the heyday of exclusive permanent tented camps of the late 1920’s.  The interior fixtures and furnishings mirror this period perfectly, reminding all who visit of those countless Hollywood movies that have paid homage to a classic era of African adventure.

Sand River Masai Mara is an ideal destination, at any time of the year, for those wishing to enjoy exceptional game-viewing. The National Reserve is best known for its large concentrations of big cats, such as leopard, cheetah and, of course, lion. Even the dramatic arrival of the Annual Migration merely adds to an already abundant resident wildlife.
