6-day Blyde River Canyon, Panorama Route & Kruger

Day notes

day 1 - Upon arrival at Hoedspruit Airport (either by flight or shuttle from Johannesburg), a connecting short road transfer will bring you to your accommodation at Blyde River Canyon Lodge for an afternoon at leisure. 

day 2  - After breakfast departure for a boat tour in the Blyde River Canyon followed by a stop for lunch at a restaurant in the area and in the afternoon visit of Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre for the 2 hours tour from 15:00 to 17:00.

Day 3:

After breakfast you will be picked up at 09:00 for a tour of the Panorama Route, entry fees and light lunch included.

One breathtaking view after another – that's South Africa's famous Panorama Route, where you'll experience mountains, skies, forests and truly impressive vistas.

You will visit Pilgrim’s Rest, an old mining town established during the heady days of the gold rush in the late 1800‘s, now lovingly preserved as a national monument and Graskop, the southernmost point of the Blyde River Canyon.

The Panorama Route Tour encompasses some spectacular scenery, with breathtaking views of the Blyde River Canyon, and out over the endless Lowveld beyond. Guests are taken along the edge of the escarpment to look out points offering magnificent views, including God’s Window, Wonderview and the Three Rondawels. Along the route you will visit the famous Bourkes Luck Potholes – deep cylindrical cavaties formed by thousands of years of water erosion at the confluence of the Blyde and Treur Rivers.

At lunch time the tour will stop, that you can have lunch and if time permits, spend a while browsing in local shops or along the pavements. Street vendors sell an amazing variety of goods – from nuts and fruit to beaded necklaces and carved wooden animals.

Near Graskop, where numerous waterfalls tumble down the mountains, you will visit the beautiful Berlin Falls and Lisbon Falls on the way to Hazyview.

In the afternoon at about 16:00 you will be dropped off at Chestnut Country Lodge.

On day 4 and 5 you will enjoy full-day game drives in Kruger Park.

Day notes

After breakfast, a road transfer will bring you to Elephant Sanctuary for the 08:00 Trunk in Hand activity. After about two hours, a road transfer will bring you back to the guesthouse.

The transfer deaparture time to Nelspruit Airport depends on the guest's onward arrangements and is flexible.
