PLANNED ACTIVITY:
Full-Day Chobe Safari

You will experience a full-day safari adventure in Chobe National Park, Botswana, one of Southern Africa’s premier wildlife destinations. The day combines wildlife viewing by both boat and safari vehicle, giving you the opportunity to experience the Chobe River and National Park from two different perspectives.

Your experience includes return road transfers from Victoria Falls to the Botswana border, assistance with border formalities, a Chobe River boat cruise, lunch included in the rate, a game drive in Chobe National Park, and Chobe National Park fees.

During the river cruise, you may see hippo, crocodile, elephants and abundant birdlife along the water’s edge. The game drive offers the chance to search for Chobe’s famous elephant herds, buffalo, antelope, giraffe, and predators such as lion or leopard.

  • Dress in layers: Mornings can be cool on the drive, afternoons warmer on the boat.

  • Bring binoculars and camera: Wildlife viewing from both land and water is prime for photography.

  • Stay hydrated and wear sun protection: The Chobe sun can be strong, even in winter months.

  • Listen to your guide: They often know where the animals are likely to be, increasing your chances of sightings.

If you can, request a combination land-and-water safari—this offers the full Chobe experience, seeing elephants from both the vehicle and the river.

Expert tips:

Embrace the walking pace
Plains Camp is all about slowing down and experiencing the bush.  Trust your guides and pay attention to the smaller details—tracks, birds, insects and plant life.

Pack thoughtfully for comfort and safety
Neutral-coloured clothing, walking shoes if you choose to do some walking with a guide, a wide-brim hat and sunscreen are essential. Early mornings can be cool and afternoons warm, so light layers make a big difference. A small backpack with water and a camera (hands-free if possible) will keep you comfortable on longer walks.

Engage with the conservation story
Plains Camp is deeply connected to rhino conservation and protection efforts. Take time to ask questions, listen to your guides’ insights, and learn about the impact of safaris on conservation. Understanding this mission adds powerful context to your wildlife encounters and makes the experience far more meaningful.

All Meals and snacks

A typical day at Plains Camp:

Planned

Bush activities planned for the day (i.e. Walking Safari/Game Drive) - morning & afternoon

Expert tips:

For your sleep-out experience:

Dress in warm, layered clothing

Even in summer, nights in the bush can be surprisingly cold. A warm jacket, beanie, and thick socks make a big difference once you’re settled on the deck.

Keep expectations wild, not luxurious
This is a raw, authentic bush experience — no distractions, just you and the sounds of wildlife moving nearby. Embrace the simplicity; that’s where the magic lies.

Listen more than you look
Wildlife often reveals itself through sound before sight. Hippos, hyena, lion calls, and night birds are part of the experience — lie back, stay still, and let the bush come to you.

Trust your guides completely
The sleep-out decks are carefully positioned and monitored by experienced guides who understand animal movement and behavior. Relax and enjoy the experience knowing safety is always the priority.

Wake early for first light
Dawn is one of the most rewarding moments — animals often visit the waterhole at first light, and the sunrise over the bushveld is unforgettable.
