Day notes
After experiencing the comforts of Rhino Post Safari Lodge and two daily game drives, tonight you will trade the comforts of the lodge for an unforgettable night beneath the African stars.
The raised Sleep-Out Decks overlook the Xiteveteve waterhole, where you will enjoy dinner cooked over an open fire before settling into your tent to listen to the sounds of the nocturnal bush.
This is a very unique and special experience. It is totally optional, so if you prefer to sleep in your room at the lodge - no problem!
Don't miss this opportunity if you love nature, want to feel really close to the bush and enjoy camping.
There are four tents only, all on raised wooden decks with stairways leading to each. Each tent is equipped with 2 x single sleeping stretches and camping bedding which accommodates two people per tent.
2 x communal bathrooms are available as part of the sleep-out deck experience as well as a central boma area for a lovely crackling fire and an area for a traditional dinner. (Called a braai - similar to a barbeque, but with an African flair!)
An optional walking safari is also offered before sunset, unless the group prefers to take a leisurely drive before sunset.
Expert tips:
The sleep-out experience may fall on another night while staying at Rhino Post Safari Lodge, as it's on a 'first come, first serve basis'.
Remember - eEvery game drive offers something different and it's a case of being at the 'right place at the right time'!
Animals move around constantly (big and small) and you never know what you are going to find.
Of course seeing the BIG FIVE (Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo) is what most people strive for, but don't forget to look for and learn about the beautiful African bird species you will see along the way and other sightings like warthogs ('Phumba's'), hyena's, so many different types of antelope, giraffes and zebra. Not to mention the water birds, hippos and crocodiles found at various dams and waterholes.
Even dung beetles rolling dung balls on the road is fascination to see - so enjoy the small things!
The guides are very experienced and they love answering your questions!
Day notes
Enjoy your final full day at Rhino Post Safari Lodge with an early morning game drive as the bush awakens, followed by a leisurely brunch back at the lodge.
Spend the late morning and afternoon relaxing and enjoying the peaceful surroundings – perhaps take a swim, unwind on your private deck or simply enjoy some quiet time overlooking the waterhole.
Later, after high tea, head out on your final afternoon game drive, stopping along the way for sundowners as the African sun sets. As darkness falls, continue your safari into the evening before returning to Rhino Post for a relaxed farewell dinner and a final evening in the iconic Kruger National Park.
