Day 1: Lower Zambezi

Welcome to Zambia!

On arrival at Lusaka International airport please head over to the Royal Air Charters office at Lusaka Airport  Domestic terminal. Here you can check in for your flight and hand over your luggage. Then please go across to Domestic Departures where you will be required to pay Domestic Departure tax of $16/person (your guide will pay for this).  

You may then go through into the Domestic departure lounge, where you can wait until the pilot of the charter company will call you to board your plane.  Please be at the Royal Air Charters airport office at 15:30

Please note that luggage on light aircraft flights is restricted to 15kg/person in soft bags.

On landing at Royal Airstrip you will be transferred by vehicle to the lodge – approx. 10 min drive

Day 4: South Luangwa National Park

Road transfer to Royal Airstrip for your scheduled flights to Mfuwe via Lusaka. 

On arrival at Mfuwe airport you will be met for a road transfer to Kafunta River Lodge by a representative from the lodge.

Spend some time to relax and freshen up before dinner. 

Day 5: South Luangwa National Park

Enjoy an early morning tea before your first morning Safari in South Luangwa National Park.

Game drives are our favourite activity at Kafunta River Lodge. They start with the exciting river crossing at the pontoon, laying just minutes away from the lodge and giving access to more remote areas with extraordinarily good wildlife.

On your way back from your game drive stop at Project Luangwa to see some of the amazing community projects being done in Luangwa and  some therapy shopping of locally produced crafts in the Baobab Shop and Tribal Textile Coffee Shop. Stop to see snares at Conservation South Luangwa. 

Lunch will be served at the lodge. 

Afternoon Activity: Afternoon/Night Game Drive 

Relax by the infinity pool or take a dip in the natural hot tub. 

15h30 meet for afternoon tea before you head out for your afternoon/ night drive.

Dinner will be served in camp.

Don't miss a dip in the hot tub!

This is the only natural hot tub in the Luangwa Valley! We are lucky to have a natural hot spring flowing underground, so the hot tub is fed directly from this geothermal source, with its water constantly at 38 degrees centigrade. Perfect for the winter months!

Day 6: South Luangwa National Park

Morning Activity: Mulberry Mongoose & Village Tour 

Visit a local jewellery  workshop where local craftswomen use snare wire recovered from poaching traps to create jewellery designs inspired by the African bush.

You will have a chance to hammer and coil snare wire beads for your creations and jewellery making and get 10% discount on your shopping.

Followed by a visit to one of the local villages : Great opportunity to learn about the culture of the locals and see how they live day to day life. and chat to the women in the village. The aim is to help local communities improve their long-term economic prospects, whilst avoiding a negative impact on the environment and wildlife. 

Join us to donate re-useable / washable sanitary towels to young girls - many young girls miss so much school or quit school due to not having access to sanitary towels.

Afternoon Activity: Afternoon/Night Game Drive 

Relax by the pool, visit the gym or treat yourself at the SPA. 

15h30 meet for afternoon tea before you head out for your afternoon/ night drive.

Dinner will be served in camp.

Day 8: Victoria Falls (Zambia)

Enjoy your last morning game drive in South Luangwa National Park.

After your game drive, prepare for your road transfer to Mfuwe airport for your scheduled flight to Livingstone via Lusaka. 

On arrival at Livingstone airport you will be met by a representative from Chundukwa River Lodge for your road transfer to the lodge.

Welcome to Chundukwa River Lodge! Settle in with a special welcome drink at this eco-friendly lodge set on the banks of the Zambezi River.

Day 9: Victoria Falls (Zambia)

Victoria Falls Visit

After a good nights rest and a hearty fresh breakfast, its time free to explore Livingstone and Victoria Falls today! 

Transfer to the magnificent Victoria Falls with your driver. Take in the sights, sounds and smells of this magnificent waterfall - don’t forget a waterproof camera! Pop in to the on-site curio market on your way out to find a treasure. 

There are some additional (optional) experiences that you may want to do on your full day outing on your way back to the lodge -  our  vehicle will take you there, wait for you and bring you home safely at the end of the day. These outsourced activities are extra and for the clients own account (example museum entry fees).

Today you can buy your own lunch from any of the numerous restaurants on your way back to the lodge.

Extra Optional Activities: Stop in at Dambwa Market on your way back to purchase some local fabrics called "Chitenge" these are wonderful keepsakes and gifts, ideal for cushion covers, table cloths, runners, serviettes, kiddies toys - let your creativity run! Transfer back to Chundukwa River Lodge for pool-time and sunset hour.

Stop at Sishemo Bead Factory in Nakatindi, within the outskirts of Livingstone, this is a true insight into local living and enterprise! Sishemo's female artisans upcycle discarded glass bottles into unique, handcrafted glass beads using traditional firing techniques. Day 10: Victoria Falls (Zambia)

Today is about "making a difference". Depart Lodge after breakfast, transfer to Nakawa Community Academy (approx 30 min transfer).

Cynthia & Sikumba are an extraordinary couple with an extraordinary extended family! Together they started the Nakawa Community Academy - providing food and education to 104 children (and counting!) in her village. She has created a spectacular veggie garden, tree nursery, fruit orchard, a craft shop and a tuck shop as a means of financing her growing community. Visitors can support this inspirational couple by visiting their project, making purchases from their curio shop, help plant some trees - or lend a helping hand with the children. The academy is also supported by Pack For A Purpose. This organisation details what materials are needed for this particular school, should visitors wish to bring some supplies out with them.

Day 11: Victoria Falls (Zambia)

Day at Leisure or book an adrenaline activity in Livingstone.
